French Kid Leparoux......are we a witness to history?

Postby wilf » Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:34 pm

For anyone who has NOT been watching Turfway Park lately, the leading rider is a French boy named Leparoux and he is on fire!! He has ridden 5 winners on a card twice this year and leads the nation in winners.Patrick Biancone brought him over and he has blossomed into a confidant young rider on the crest of a wave and in an ideal world without injuries or other sidetracks just may be following in the footsteps of the bug years of Desormeaux and McCarron. I suggest you follow and enjoy!

Hey I'm always excited for new up and coming jockeys...good times if he is an amazing rider. Not like we have a cap on those :)

you are absolutely right, he's tearing up the boards. i read a nice article about him and his work ethic, etc. i play around with the 10 cent supers and always use him. hopefully, he's the real deal and will be around for a long time.

I love Julien,

unfortunately everytime I bet on a horse he rides, it doesn't make it to the finish line first. Am I jinxing him?

Wilf: It's Saturday. It's a mixed bag outside. It's damp and cold. I put the hay last night. I know the tractor seat is wet and I'm going to let the ground soak in the water to settle the last three weeks of dust. So to speak, I'm calling it a day. I'm going to watch Julien on TVG today if he is riding. I might even put a buck or two on Julien's nose. It will be great to see a young rider making history, even if it is in KY. PS: Do you give guarantees. I'm not a rich man.

Wilf: As an aside with ELECTROCUTIONIST & BRASS HAT running 1 and 2 in the Dubai WC, I'm thinking HAIL TO REASON line stallion stock may go up. Got any thoughts? P. S. I somewhat disappointed in your guarantee policy.

Wilf: Julien is for real. Unfortunately for me, I missed betting on him in the 1st race Saturday and then like a "fool" I tried to integrate him into my own system. I came up with empty pockets. My gut told me to go with the "box" on him, but . . . well that is a story for another time. Nice tip though.

As an aside, did you see SMOKEY GLACKEN run at Aqeduct? How about her tail moving around all over the place when the jockey hit her. That was something. I don't think she takes to the whip that well.

He's on Ex Caelis in the KY Oaks for D. Wayne Lukas. Could you imagine if he pulled that off? Sounds like he's definitely a rising star. What's he like personally and does anyone wanna comment otherwise? Just was pleased to see him in the race so thought I'd share. Might have a Derby mount next year, esp. if he can score some trips in the Breeders' Cup.

I saw him bounce off the safety rail the last day of the Keeneland meet when Sanibel Storm shied sideways and launched him in the stretch. He somersaulted to the ground and got up, making frustrated motions with his arms. After a scary accident like that, he was still mad that he hadn't won the race.

If he had won, he'd have been the leading jockey for the meet. I'd put him on a horse of mine in a minute.

He sounds like he has the requisite level of insanity to be a top Jock.

LOL, I saw him again in the paddock twenty minutes later. He couldn't wait to get on another horse and try again.

Nice article, there are a lot of good jockeys in France, Patrick Biancone trained there before going to the US, he won big races, Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe in 1983 with All Along.
