Lane's End/Rushaway

Postby Heidilady » Sat Mar 25, 2006 4:14 pm

Ok so I found the ESPN article on this race amusing after the fact...this is the end of it:

"Other fringe contenders include Sharp Attack, who has a 2 for 2 record on the Turfway Polytrack, and More Than Regal (post 10), a winner of his last two starts.

The rest of the field is Malameeze (post 1), With a City (post 2), Seaside Retreat (post 7), and Pair of Kings (post 11)."

So 3 of 4 in the 'rest of the field' finished 1,2,3.... With A City, Seaside Retreat, and Malameeze, with a 'fringe contender' More than Regal getting 4th I believe. Oh goody. I smell a Derby contender  (That kind of remark always tempts fate but I don't care. I'm in a bad mood. I don't like these horses and I now despise tennis for doing its best to pre-empt my races. There's a random burst of snow outside my house and the world is sucking right now.)

Does anybody know what the heck happened in the Rushaway? I didn't care that much til they just refused to tell me. Blast them.

High Cotton won by I think 2 1/4 lengths.

Ah interesting...that horse's been a buzz horse forever and is always full of potential and I was beginning to wonder if he'd be one of those that's--to coin a phrase--"always favorite, never a winner." I guess I'll try to dig up the replay to watch. This weekend felt like a bit of a mess so I hope some cohesion comes out of it but I'm not holding my breath. Bring on April...
