Blew his competition off the track in Dubai. Not a pedigree expert, but isn't David Junior bred for a pedigree almost identical to my favorite turf racer, Forbidden Apple?

David Junior was the most impressive to me of all the Dubai winners . . .and such a beauty too . . . .

David Junior is by a son of Forbidden Apple's sire, and his dam is a half to Forbidden Apple. Extended cross that worked.

The list of horses David Junior has defeated includes Rakti (IRE), Alexander Goldrun (IRE), Oratorio (IRE), Bullish Luck (USA), Tyson (SAf), and Host (CHI). Quite an impressive resume. If he's anything like his "uncle" he is only now hitting his best form. Should be fun to watch! :D

Forbidden Apple is a close match to another Turf champion I lost a season too. Why is Forbidden your favorite and what do you think about him as a stud?

Thanks

I saw every race FA ran in NY at the track(s) including his first win at Belmont when FA walked toward me in the walking ring.. I was 5 feet away. FA stopped , turned and looked right at me and said, "I'm going to win". Crazy. I thought so too. He won and paid 58.50 for $2. Made me a believer.

Unfortunately, FOS mentioned that Forbidden Apple has some problem breeding...what it is, is unknown..libido...fertility... or some other problem. FA has few foals shown on his stallion page....but he does have some. In "person", Fobidden Apple is almost black and is a good sized horse on the solid side, and has that lanky turf body.

At 5k, if I had a mare that matched, I'd go to FA in a flash.
His pedigree is impeccable and he could run and win from 3 -7 years.
His family is stocked with champions including his dam,FL broodmare of the year and sire KD/Preakness winner Pleasant Colony.

The family gets late developing G-1 winners on dirt (Pleasantly Perfect, Pleasant Tap, David Junior, Pleasant Home) and turf... FA, Paradise Creek
Maybe FA can be bred to a few mares. I think it worth a call to FL.

From another thread
FOS posts:

You wrote "(Forbidden Apple) had speed for a grass runner and a very good closing kick. Held his own against European grass racers and held up physically."

Pretty fair description...he was a very game...very tough competitor. A true top-class, no nonsense racehorse...that took on all comers. Just look at who he raced against...and beat (including Affirmed Success...Val's Prince...King Cugat...Sumitas (Ger)...Sarafan...City Zip...Brahms...Noverre...Strut the Stage...With Anticipation etc etc.

Very impressive.

David Junior is a magnificent indivudal and has a balance of speed and stamina.

DJ sire Pleasant Tap is from the sire line of Rabelais through Ribot.

This Rabelais sire line is becoming a rare commodity on the paternal side of our stallions of today. One could call this the last of the line, as we are seeing more of this Rabelais sire line in tail female.

DJ will get tested for class in those GR Stakes, with a golden pedigree I have to vote for DJ to accomplish his tasks.
Those without sin cast the first stone.
