Louis: Bluesthestandard

Postby Swaps1955 » Mon Apr 24, 2006 5:29 pm

Hi, Louis,

Do you have any ACCURATE information on Bluesthestandard? The Form says he's been transferred to Bob Hess's stable. Some of the posters on Thoroughbred Champions are reporting that he has a "broken sesamoid". Do you know anything about that, or his condition? Thanks so much. He's a favorite of a lot of people, including me!

Hi Louis,

I am very interested also in the well being of Blues. I have heard from an inside source that his ankle is "very bad!!!". Is the Vet at SA the same one that was on the "On the Muscle" DVD?? I understand that Bob Hess Jr. is a very good conditioner . . . . . but. . . . . . . .

Also interested in knowing is there representation @SA of any T'Bred retirement organizations?

Thanks for your help.

Blues was claimed out of his last race (a win a few weeks ago) by Mark Glatt, and then transferred to Hess. Did something happen to him since that race?

Grade 2 winner Bluesthestandard wins $26,400 claimer at Santa Anita

Multiple Grade 2 winner Bluesthestandard moved closer to becoming the leading Georgia-bred money earner of all time by rallying to earn a three-quarter-length victory in a $26,400 claiming race on Sunday at Santa Anita Park.

Running for a claiming price of $18,000 in his fifth start since being claimed by trainer Bill Spawr for Debi and Edward Brown for $50,000 on August 14, Bluesthestandard overtook pacesetter Tenth Street to open a head lead in early stretch.

The nine-year-old gelded son of American Standard continued to distance himself from runner-up Tenth Street approaching the finish and boosted his bankroll to $1,030,218 as he won for the 18th time in 46 career starts.

Vivace, a Grade 3-winning daughter of Shot Gun Scott, leads all Georgia-breds in earnings with $1,037,671.

Bluesthestandard, the winner of the 2003 Potrero Grande Breeders' Cup (G2) and '04 Palos Verdes (G2) Handicaps, is the leading male Georgia-bred money earner of all time.

This is from DRF and it's from this month:

Hess gets Bluesthestandard

Bluesthestandard has another new home. Two weeks after he was claimed for $12,500 by owner Steven Sobel and trainer Mark Glatt, the 9-year-old gelding has been transferred to trainer Bob Hess Jr. He will be the eighth trainer for Bluesthestandard, who rose from the $10,000 claiming ranks in 2002 to win graded sprint stakes and finish second in the 2003 Breeders' Cup Sprint for trainer Ted. H. West. Hess recognizes the 19-for-47 veteran has a following.

"You're under the microscope, and the horse deserves that kind of scrutiny," Hess said.

Bluesthestandard won 3 of his last 4 starts for trainer Bill Spawr before he was claimed March 30. Apprentice Juan Ochoa guided Bluesthestandard to victory in his last two races.

Bob Hess is a real class individual, and will give me the info you ask.

I will ask Bob on Thursday about the condition of BTS, Bob Hess is stabled at SA, so it makes it easy for me to gather the info.

Louis, while asking Hess might not hurt, I wonder how candid he'll be, especially if he has any inkling that what he tells you may end up getting reported on a public forum. You might get more info by talking to Mark Glatt about the details of the "disagreement" that led the horse to be transferred to Hess's barn in the first place. Just a thought...

When I ask a trainer for info about their TB, I tell them the fans of their TB our concerned about what happened to them when they our injured.

I then tell the trainers that I will post what they tell me on the net.

Mark Glatt is a quiet individual and not as talkative as Bob Hess.
