This is my first post for a while because somehow I hurt my neck a few weeks ago and haven't been able to sit at my computer. Apparently there is a herniated disc and the pain is really intense. It seems unlikely that I will be able to avoid having surgery.
I own small shares in Citi Smoke, Oriental Rose and Gear It Up, who are usually based at Arlington Park but are spending the winter at Hawthorne. Since I could not even look at my computer for several weeks I did not know that Oriental Rose had been entered in a MSW race at Hawthorne, and I missed seeing the race. It was only several days later when I was taking enough painkillers to actually sit up at my screen that I found out she had won! My very first winner and I missed it. It still felt thrilling though. Rose is now headed for an allowance at Keeneland on the 12th - an interesting experiment on polytrack.
Citi Smoke raced on the 30th Sept. I was able to watch that on youbet.net although it was pretty painful. Smokie did something similar to his performance first time out (this latest one was a MSW at Hawthorne). He got left behind at the start, but as in his first race, showed that tremendous finishing kick to break through a wall of horses and steal third. We were very happy with that performance. It is only a matter of time before he breaks his maiden. No word on where or when he will race next.
Some of you may remember that Gear It Up was injured in his last race at Mountaineer. He is still enjoying life at the farm recovering from his injuries, and it will be a while before he races again.
I normally like to follow all the threads on this part of the forum and wish everyone luck with their horses individually. However, I don't know how much time I'll be able to spend logged on, as it's pretty painful, so perhaps you would all let me wish you the best of luck with all your horses and races for the time being until I can start posting regularly again. May they all come back safe and in the money.
Regards
Geo

Sorry to hear about your neck. Congrats on the win! Sorry to hear that you missed it... did you order a race tape so you can watch the race? Race tapes are great... you can sit there and watch the race over and over and over again...
