Homebred makes first start at Laurel Sunday

Postby Denise » Sat Aug 19, 2006 6:33 am

Our 3yo., My Son Spider, will try MSW tomorrow at Laurel. Race 10.
Technically, he broke the maiden last month at Delaware, but was DQ'd to 2nd for lugging out in the stretch!
We shall see...

That's great, Denise. Just means he gets another chance at a paycheck without advancing to ALW NW2 company. Not such a bad deal!

Spider wins!! A few ticks faster than the stakes on the same card. Came out of it more self-absorbed than ever. I think he's starting to "get" what the game is... :D

Congrats. I saw his race good win for him. I have also noticed that he was actually DQ in his prior start for MCL and now he came back and won MSW. Excellent win. makes it 2 wins in a row actually. What's next for him

He'll get a nice break (seems to relish the 4-5 weeks between heats) and maybe come back in the A-other than in MD again.
A horse as big as he is seems to benefit from BIG racetracks with wide, sweeping turns, so I'm sure the trainers will keep that in mind picking his spots.

Hey Henthorn, if I could ever figure out how to do that! But here's a link to pix of most of the family, in the meantime.

Of course, Spidey is now 16.2 on his way to 17 hands. Sister Charlotte (registered name: Sack of Rubies, not pictured) is, I'm told, bigger than he is. Taller, even bigger barrel, but shorter coupled. We'll snap a few of her tomorrow.
Brother Sy has also gone through a growth spurt since these, and the little girl is also expanding daily.
And '07 in utero is a full to Spider and Charlotte.
