Oriental Rose at Keeneland

Postby geowarrior » Thu Oct 19, 2006 6:27 pm

It really seems that Oriental Rose will run in a 52K NW1 allowance tomorrow at Keeneland ridden by Rafael Bejarano. I haven't had a chance to assess the rest of the field but this seems like a big step up in class from a maiden MSW win at Hawthorne. Not to mention a Polytrack experiment.

The managing partner is away on business so we haven't heard his thoughts on her chances or whether they might still scratch her. But he and the trainer think very highly of Rose, so lets hope she runs. I'll be missing the race because of work, so that should work in her favor as I missed her maiden win too.

Checked out her photo, she is a very good looking filly.
Best of luck!

Thanks all for the good wishes. Rose came 4th which would seem to be a pretty promising result given the bump up in class, and the fact that she just arrived in Keeneland yesterday and has never even worked out on Polytrack. Rafael Bejarano was still her jockey even although he was apparently unseated in a race earlier in the day. Still haven't heard from the managing partner as to how the jockey feels Rose dealt with the Polytrack and the competition. I'll be interested in Bejarano's opinion (I'll let you know if I hear it).

Yes she is pretty and she knows it, and uses it to get mints galore!

Ben and everyone. Thanks. In fact it was an allowance rather than a stakes but it was for a much higher purse than her previous races, so higher class company. But yes - apparently she reacted to the shipping, new track surface, new everything in a very professional manner and most importantly came out of the race fine.

Henthorn, yes I believe I will hold onto the single hair on her mane that I actually own.

Better a hair from something, than an entire horse which is nothing for racing
