La Rockette runs again!

Postby madelyn » Tue Dec 26, 2006 10:40 am

After her last out she wasn't blowing hard enough to snuff a candle, and she trained up a storm two days later. I was chatting with the owner a couple of days later and we were talking about her pedigree, and performance, being that more of a router. So she's in the 10th tomorrow night at Turfway, going a mile this time on the AWT. She's in again for $40K.. there were offers of $20K after her last race so I think they will still have her on Thursday. Might be good for a show ticket though.

Yes, but she saw daylight and was 2nd all the way to the 3/4 pole. This is the very first time she really ran, came back tucked up and needing water and walk out and rest. The other two races didn't get into her at all, she wasn't blowing at all afterward.

They were really happy with the run, she is just really green. But the mile seems to suit, her fractions were right for the distance, she just needs to work more and get a little deeper.

Well I missed it totally, La Rockette went out on Feb 18th at Turfway in a MCL. She got rolling at the end and the speed horse didn't back up so she was 2nd by 2... but if she'd had another 1/2 furlong she would have gotten the BIG check. She's in again next week, I believe. They took it really slow with her, never got shins or tendons or sore anything.

It's a happy "ending" for me. They love her to death. I will keep watching her.

Brian Cook, the young trainer, is now better than 50% ITM at Turfway.

I'm sorry you missed it, Madelyn, but it sounds like a great result. Seems like the new connections are really taking care of her. I'm so glad it's a happy ending for you. The only thing happier now would be a win, so keep us posted on how she does.

Nope. She managed to get up for second too! There is a rumor they will run her back for $10K and the Cook brothers might drop a ticket for her.

Drop a ticket? I.e. claim her back? Are the Cook brothers her original owners or are they someone I should have heard of? Excuse my ignorance.

Sorry, no the Cook brothers (Brian Cook is the trainer) are the ones who bought her from me. Yes, drop a ticket = claim her back.
