Stage Center scheduled Sunday

Postby henthorn » Thu Feb 15, 2007 6:30 pm

The filly was excluded from the race for Saturday at Oaklawn, as too many were entered. But today an extra for maiden fillies/mares was written for Sunday the 18th, fourth race, and a smaller field, with $12,500 claiming price. Stage Center is set to roll again, hopefully with less traffic trouble this time. She could probably use the extra 1/2 furlong also, as last race was only 5 1/2 f and this race is for six. She'll meet some older girls this time around as well, not just 3yo's.

Wish us well! :D

Good luck to her, and may the pilot not get in her way this time!

Actually there are eleven horses in the race, and only three 4yo's. All the rest are three year olds, like her, but there are only two first-timers in this race. So hopefully it won't be such a chaotic traffic situation. Her speed figure last race is just below the top four, but they all have excuses. After all, they are all racing for the same $12,500 claiming tag.

I like her chances, as the favorites are mostly in outside posts, and she's in the 2 hole.

p. s. Still waiting for her mama to "pop". :D

This test will have to wait for another day. She galloped easily yesterday morning, but at afternoon feed time was a little sore in one foot. By this morning she had a swollen leg that appeared to have a hidden infection. They started her on bute and antibiotics right away yesterday, and had the vet check her twice. Still not sure what caused it, but needless to say, she was scratched from today's race. Hopefully it's something minor that will resolve quickly. Such is racing--lots of anticipation, delays, disappointments, and occasional exhilaration!

No kidding. I'll cross my fingers that this injury can be quickly resolved.
