Trying Again

Postby Roguelet » Wed May 18, 2005 11:34 am

War Proposal is in Friday, the same Allowance race we've thought she could win her last two times out!  Hopefully the third time will be the charm. She's had a nice rest and a good work with a clean scope since her last race, so hopefully she'll be ready to do what we know she can do.

Please cross your fingers for no blood this time, from the lungs, tongue, or anywhere else!

Best of luck, and a safe, clean trip home!!!!

I hope she,ll prove her possibilities, as all the things seem to be done.
So good luck a safe and clear trip. Iam always crossing my fingers, for
each and any horse that,s racing. Try to keep her quiet, and relaxed before the race. It helps a lot.

We'll keep our fingers crossed. And most importantly...let her come home save and sound, that's what really counts. :D

Wow, it's a full field. I guess those Indiana bred races are as hotly contested as the NY bred races. I hope the inside post is a good one for her and that she has a safe trip. Oh, and that she gets her picture taken!
I Look forward to the post race analysis how ever it goes.

Thanks everyone! I was a bit concerned that they would have to cancel racing again tonight, but it looks like it's a "go" (for now anyway) so hopefully she'll get to run.

It is a full field, and there are some nice horses in there, too. She's been training well, though, and if she can get a good break and get her nose in front early, I think she'll be tough.

Hi Roquelet,

How did she do? I did not see any news?

Sorry about that! She ended up 4th. She had the #1 hole and she didn't break as quickly as she could've, so she got herself surrounded on the rail pretty fast.

The jockey said that she didn't like being stuck on the rail... that she started to get pretty upset about it. Interestingly, the jockey who rode her in her first race said the same exact thing (he even backed her up and took her wide around the outside because he didn't like her "feel" on the rail), but I figured that was lack of experience. I guess we've learned that she needs to go to the outside, even if it means travelling wider than necessary, because if she has no room to run she gets an attitude.

Anyway, the jockey said she was boxed in there for a while, then got an opening on the rail and she started to move, then the horse in front of her slowed down in the stretch and he had to maneuver her around that horse. He said he had plenty of horse left and she was coming on at the end, but the finish line came up too quickly.

She looked to me like she could've easily kept going, and thankfully she came out of the race great, so we're going to put her in again the next time the race comes around. I think the next time it should be a sired race, so that should be helpful as well. We did beat the horse I was most concerned about though... she came in right behind us! :D

Rogue
We are having the same problem with our filly, Vestal Heights, showing
the same signs. Now we are racing her, giving a lot of daylight in the race to her. It works very well, and she,s easing during the race, so keeping something left for the closing stages.
Good luck with her next time, she,ll improves, and otherwise give her some distance, they are able to sort themselves out.
