Postby BenB » Fri Aug 12, 2005 12:39 pm

Vestal Heights is entered for a turf race low Handicap 10,5 furlong
for sunday the 21 ste. Race is in dusseldorf at a bit unequal track gooiing
up and down, finish uphill at the end of a five furlong straight.
Gooiing 2 benches as it is a big oval track.
As I,am on holiday in germany, we the kids,my wife and me, are gooiing
to see her there. Hope everything turns out for good, as we had our share in the problems, keeping fingers crossed in the meantime

Good luck and safe trip, Ben! Being able to make an outing of it with the family is a nice perk.

The race turned out in a disaster, she bled heavily after 3 furlongs
from home. It was a very big crowd last sunday, and her nerves were
tested in full.
All together i,ve to make a dicision how to go on with her, as I don,t
have pasture of my own.
Maybe giving her away, I don,t know yet. She,s having small black types
after all. The holiday is great and the weather bad. Next friday I,ll pay a
visit to the trainer and see the filly when on my way gooiing home

Ben, that's really too bad for Vestal Heights - and disappointing for you. It takes both physicaly and mental toughness to be a racehorse, and even then some just never quite get it all together on the right day.

I hope you find a solution for her without too much agonizing.

I do think that the problem lies in her temperament, and the problem with her nerves. And that most of the other ungooiing problems are related to that phenomen.
She getting off a long time at pasture (our trainer is having pasture) and next year we are starting again, and when it fails, I am gooiing to shool her in order to get a riding prospect for our kids who are having lessons at a riding shool, she,s great with the kids. So we are gooiing to see if mother nature get the time, the filly will change or not
