Family is racing tonight

Postby henthorn » Fri Oct 28, 2005 5:22 pm

Two of my mares have two-year-old closely-related colts making their first starts tonight, eleven minutes apart.

Scheduled at Remington Park in the 4th, a $20K maiden claiming race, the #3 colt is Talk to It, by Talk is Money out of Hop to It (my mare). He's her first foal, and I've never seen him. She had him after she was claimed from me, and I bought her back in foal with her second colt. Race is set for 7:54 pm CDT.

Scheduled in the fifth race at Meadowlands in a maiden special weight race is #5, Stan the Man, by Grand Slam out of Vivalita (my mare Vivid Dreams' dam), purchased by Dogwood Stable at the Midlantic 2yo sale this spring. He is set for 9:05 EDT post time.

I'm going to Remington to watch, and maybe meet my long-lost "grandson". :P

Talk to It got caught in a speed duel and tired to finish sixth of ten. Better luck next time.

Stan the Man was the favorite, but several others were near-favorites at 2:1 odds. He finished fifth, hopefully learned something and will improve next time as the beaten favorite.
