Hurray! We're finally back on track
Remote Control had been just getting into gear when Remington Park's season ended late November
, so we shipped him to Turf Paradise in Phoenix. As soon as he arrived, he developed a respiratory infection
, and took forever for his cough to resolve
. He finally returned to full training after about six weeks and is finally fit for racing
. He is entered in a $12,500 claiming race at one mile on the turf, race 8, PP9, on Sunday the 12th. What a relief!
They sure don't pay their way, waiting in the barn
.

Movin' On
Remote put in one of his less than masterful performances
, raced to be in good position stalking the rabbit, but pooped out when the real race began, and tired to sixth.
But surprise! surprise! My trainer called to say that someone claimed the horse!?
He was one of the longshots in a questionable field, so we never dreamed he'd be claimed, although he was running at an appropriate level for his ability.
So, Good news, Bad news! Our sweet hard-trying 5yo gelding is out of our hands, but now I have $12,500 I didn't have yesterday
, and I don't have van, vet, insurance, and training bills to cover anymore for him. And now I can relax a bit about the upcoming bills on breeding and training and vanning of others in the band. The two three-year-old fillies won't be racing until maybe April/May, and we'll be able to start training again with the two-year-old soon.

You are absolutely right, Ben. What a windfall!
Elvis, one of my fillies is an accredited Texas-bred. She's in the database: Dreams for Hire. She's back in training after surgery for her sesamoid fracture. We'll probably ship in to Lone Star with her if she's got some ability and if nothing similar is available at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore this spring.
