Trying to find where I can obatin papers on my thoroughbred
I have a 9 year old gelding named Deer Tracker. I found his pedigree and I have his racing reords, but he didn't come with papers. Are all race horse registered with the American Jockey Association, and where can I find a duplicate of his papers or find if he was ever registered? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Depending on how you acquired him and whether or not his original papers are still in existence, or were turned in to the Jockey Club and marked "sold without pedigree", you can order duplicates from the Jockey Club. The charge, I believe, is $200. You will need a signed, notarized affidavit from the last owner of record as to how the papers were lost. Due to his age, they will probably also send you a DNA kit and ask for a full set of registration photos. If you go to www.jockeyclub.com you will find contact information, instructions, etc.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
