info on Honorable Prince?

Postby moe » Tue Jan 30, 2007 3:34 pm

Hi, I am looking for photos and more info for Honorable Prince (2001), by Double Honor out of Talent Princess. He had 18 starts. One win which was August 29th 2003 at Thistle/River (have try to contact this track for info but not gotten response thus far). He also raced a least two races at Tampa Bay Downs (am in process of contacting them). As for any other races he was in i have yet to find.

Just wondering -i am very new to this- if any more pictures or info that i am missing can be found. He was bred by Farnsworth Farms, which i beleive has since changed hands.

I would love to find ANY pictures or past life info.

Hi,

There is but ONE chance to get a win picture for your horse.

He won just that single race, at Thistledown, Ohio (Cleveland area) on August 29, 2003.

You should phone the track and ask for the number of the track photographer.

Thistledown is located at
21501 Emery Rd.

Thanks guys!

I did "google" him, I was just wondering if there was any info on him that I might have missed.

I am in love with this horse! He has a great heart, totally trusting of his humans and a joy to have in my life. I can see that he might not have been the greatest racer but he is a lovely hunter! I would like to give praise to those that may have worked with this guy in the past, he is for sure one of the most loving ottb's i have met in my 25 years dealing with them.

Is there away to find his trainer, breeder info now that the farm is no longer? Mike Sherman is the breeders name, he is still involed in the industry, but on a smaller scale then when running Farnsworth.

I tried to find contact info, but so far have not. Maybe he does not wish to be contacted? Do you think there is any point in trying? I mean maybe they wont even remember this horse, not sure how many they bred, but i think they were very active in the industry. I would understand, he had a somewhat forgettable race record! None the less he is a great horse and i would love to find out everything possible on him.

Thank-you so much for your help.

Well, I'm guessing it won't be the most recent trainer you wish to contact, so I'll skip that person.

The man who trained him most often was

Ronald P Behrens

who had him for all but four of his eighteen starts

last owner was a Joanne Whitney

Hi there! I'm really new to this, but I noticed your post title, and just had to share that I purchased Honorable Mark in 2005, a Double Honor / Metalmark 2001 model. He is an amazing horse, and it seems half brother to yours, so I wanted to wish you best of luck with your endeavors. Merlin, as he has come to be known, is a patient, kind, curious and honest horse who has been learning the ropes of the hunter jumper world with me for the last year. I was trying to get photos of him as well a while back, but didn't get very far with the tracks. However, I haven't given up yet. Merlin only won 1 race, but he did place and show in a few others. So anyway, if I find anything on him from his racing days, I'll be sure to share on the board.

Wow very cool to have herd from you!

Sounds like they have a lot of the same traits! Very neat that, Elmo (as he is known at the barn) has a half brother headed down the same road as him. I purchased him in late 2004. He has such a great mind, and shows good form over fences as well. We are working on fine tuning his training, so far he has made me very proud! We have two years of showing (mid level hunter) under our belts and he always pins.

Please do share info you might come across, as will I. It was great to hear from you, thank-you for sharing!

Thanks geowarrior, as well for your good wishes, he is very special to me!

Hi,

I wish you would let me know, in detail, just what your avenues of pursuit were from "the tracks". I'm asking only so I can have a better sense of where non-racing people turn when hoping to get, say, maybe photos from their now-retired throughbred from back in its race days.

In return I can tell you that your horse won for the only time on December 4, 2003 at Calder Race Course in Florida. He won by a long way and it should provide a nice picture.

I'll be very surprised if you can't go through the track photographer there and get a winner's circle picture for something near to $20.

Hope this gets you on the right path.

Hi there, my avenues were somewhat limited, I'll admit. I did go through the Jockey Club via tattoo research and the $35 fee, and got his race records and pedigree. Then I started internet searches for more information on him, and found that the breeding farm has just changed hands, so I stopped that route thinking there wasn't going to be much info there, looking at his $18k total, I'm sure same as other folks, believed no one would remember him. I emailed Calder and never heard back, so I started more internet searches, couldn't find anything on "Just for Fun Stable" which was listed as his owner when he won. At that point, I figured I was probably wasting my time. With as many OTTB's as there are out there, I thought that it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. But, looking through your advice on this site, I went ahead and called Calder tonight. The security guard answered the phone, and told me to call Gulfstream as their track photographer was over there working now, as Calder is closed right now. So I called and left a message, so we will see... Thanks for the heads up about the picture probably being a good one. I never thought about that, but looking at the race records, if I'm reading it right, he won by more than 7 lengths, so I would guess it would just be him in the shot.

Updates and one more question

Postby Hopeful Hunter » Fri Feb 09, 2007 4:35 pm

Yea, I talked to Jim Lisa Photos today at Calder, and sent them a check for some nice 8x10's of my horse from his win. Thank you so much for the advice on calling and asking for the track photographer.

And one more request please, could anyone explain for me what all the headings mean across the top of the race record?

I know some of them, example Track and Race #, and Value of race, etc. But what do the others mean? I tried searching to find a guide to this, and had a hard time locating anything. All the races have a claim price listed for him, what exactly does that mean? What is the Leader's Time section about? I didn't quite understand when he came in 2nd on a race, why that line showed 22 then 46 then over a minute and from what I could tell, it was a length of a neck, so it couldn't be that he was 24 seconds behind... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you all so much!

I just wanted to take the time to say thanks to everyone. My pictures arrived this week, and it was just amazing to see my horse in the winner's circle. I honestly hope you all know how nice it is of you to take the time to help folks out like you are on this board. There's not alot of anonymous strangers out there helping other people, and it may seem like a small thing, giving this help to find old pictures, but I can say that it meant the world to me. So, again, THANKS!!!
and here's a link to his composite if you want to see for yourself.
