Mr. Mauk

Postby pwslgl » Sun Nov 05, 2006 5:52 am

Hi. I am about to own Mr. Mauk so I am doing research on him.

I looked him up and found that his great-great grandfather is Secretariat.

I see the following information but don't know what it means:

DP=9-3-14-4-0 (30)
DI = 1.73
CD = 0.57

Could somebody explain that to me?

Also, any other info on Mr. Mauk would be appreciated. I've searched the web but couldn't find any information.

Thanks.

Mr. Mauk - did he race at 3

Postby pwslgl » Sun Nov 05, 2006 10:32 am

Thanks for the information. It was very helpful.

I didn't see his race record at 3 years old. Did I miss it or did he not race at 3?

Thanks again.

He was unplaced in 3 starts at 3 (for a cumulative 6-0-0-0, $2,205). I'm looking at an '05 APR (rcds. through 12/31/04) so I don't know if he raced at 4. He sold KEEOCT 2002 for $9K.

Thanks.

When you say "He sold KEEOCT 2002 for $9K", what does KEE stand for?

Also, if he ran in 2 races at 2 and 3 races at 3, didn't he only run in 5 races? And, if he never placed, how did he make $2,205?

How do you find out your information? I'd be happy to research, I just couldn't find any sites besides this one.

Thanks for your help. I'm new to the horseracing research area!

Well let's start here:

2001 Mr. Mauk,Ch,g,Mr. Greeley 3 8 0 0 0 2,415 ( 70) 0.10
North America 2 YO Record 3 0 0 0 195 ( 63)
North America Turf Record 4 0 0 0 2,145 ( 70)
North America Dirt Sprints 3 0 0 0 75 ( 63)
North America Dirt Routes 1 0 0 0 195 ( 36)
DP = 9-3-14-4-0 DI = 1.73 CD = 0.57
Sold at Hip # Sales Price Sire Avg Rank Stud Fee
KEEOCT 2002 0039 $9,000 $78,543 ylg (22/23) NA

This is his listing on my 2006 American Produce Record CD. It indicates he ran for three years and made eight starts, three of them at age two. He earned $2,415, probably for fourth place finishes since he never got in the top three, except for the checks for $75 and $195. There are a few tracks that pay ALL places. He sold at the Keeneland October sale in 2002 as a yearling, in Lexington, for $9,000. He was the second to last priced horse from that particular sire. His sire's yearlings averaged $78,543 at that sale.

Thank you so much for the information. I didn't actually want a fast, crazy ex-racehorse so I'm glad he was not a good racer! :-) But, he's beautiful and seems very laid back so I think he'll be the perfect casual horse.

Thanks again for all your help.
