Info on 2002 gelding Quitman by Straightman

Postby Kendra » Wed Feb 15, 2006 10:25 am

Looking for info on Quitman ~ 2002 chestnut gelding by Straightman out of Fast Trick. (there is another 1982 Quitman in the database)

This is what I have traced so far:

Foaled at Abracadbra Farms in FLorida and sold to Jonathan Dean at the 2003 Fall Ocala Breeders Sale as a long yearling. Jonathan Dean does not recall him (buys many and can understandably only remember the successfully raced/bred)

He raced once in the US and twice in Canada (luckily for me he wasn't very good at it apparently  )

What I'd like to find out is where he raced and how he came to Ontario (ie owner/sale info) to fill in the blanks since he was a yearling.

I purchased this colt for my 17 year old daughter and he is the most honest horse we have ever owed. He is super sweet and loves people so someone treated him very well. He is now headed for a show jumping career.

Thanks in advance for any info provided,

K

Hi,

First of all, be sure to get that "Straight Man" is two words, and he is by Saint Ballado

mare Fast Trick was bred in Ireland and is by Northfields.

Also, the horse raced 4 times, all 4 were in Ontario, Canada

the first two at Woodbine, and the last two at Fort Erie

He ran 5th of 10 in his first attempt at Fort Erie and was last in all three of the other starts.

Last race was July 17, 2005 at Fort Erie, Ontario

co-breeders were August Moon Farm and Abracadabra Farms

Listed owner Maree M Ramirez

Listed trainer Richard Jukosky at Fort Erie, John P MacKenzie at Woodbine

Ocala Sale price was $2700

I guess you should look up the name Maree M. Ramirez and probably find that she races horses in Ontario, to answer your question.

Again, he did not race in the U.S. at all.

First start at Woodbine on Dec. 10, 2004

Thanks so much for the info re his racing and previous owners ~ I knew he wasn't very good - lol. I was told he just wouldn't pass the other horses

I did trace his tattoo# and have his 5 generation pedigree from the Jockey Club but I was sure it stated 1 race in the USA???

I had also traced the sale info at Ocala.

We purchased him the end of September 2005 so he had been racing just prior to us getting him.

This is our first OT TB and I am amazed at how well this guy adapted to the fast switch from racing. We hacked this colt down the road and through the trails a week after he arrived and he was totally solid!
Several people at our stables have commented how he never makes a wrong step (perfectly behaved on the ground and under tack)

I will definitely own more of these amazing horses!!!

Thanks again for the info,

K
