I know chestnuts are meant to be a pain, but I love them.
I had a chestnut called Wrinsted by Connaught. She was a lovely mare and crossed brilliantly with my Galley.
My sister has a daughter of hers by Royal Match. She keeps toying with putting her in foal with Galley's semen. I think she should but that's her choice.

Pretty, pretty foal. I like her neck and she does have a nice engine, too!

Thanks ! This is the first foal I ever bred and Im so careful about feeding and everything. The vet doesn't want foals to be to fat alil rib showing. He said to much feed is bad (so they don't grow to fast) So she's on a balanced feed program and I've got to wean her in the next week. So fun fun fun in the next few weeks for me.

I need to wean soon too... I'm procrastinating.

Anyway, I wanted to comment on that one B&W picture... it's a very cool shot. One of those photos that sort of stands out and makes you come back for a second look.

I just nominated my first and only (so far) to the breeders cup. It's not that expensive and if you don't you will be second-guessing yourself until she makes her first start. "Hope springs eternal" and all that. Go for it. Better to nominate now, than regret it later.

Well, I don't know about that. I nominated our Street Cry filly for the Breeder's Cup (duh!) for the $500 before Aug 1 because she is in the November sale and her sire has had a BC winner. Rocking Trick is Breeder's Cup ELIGIBLE since I nominated him for his '07 season and will again in '08. This was his first big year, with 24 mares.

Since Breeder's Cup races now allow supplemental nomination, the way I feel about it is if your horse is racing THAT well it has probably earned enough along the way to pay the supplemental nomination. So I have to feel AWFULLY good about a weanling to nominate it.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Thanks for comment. I understand your point but the diffrence between $500 and $150,000 is big for me. Breeding to race and not sell I don't really care that her sire's first crop hasn't ran as 2yr old and so forth. I believe in my mare and I'm gona do it. :D
