Handsome boy!
best of luck with him - I like his looks. Should be a nice runner for you!
Thanks for the comments..Charlie means a lot to me being the very first horse I personally bred. ....So far he's been doing well with each step of his training. I could have prepared him to try to make the races at two, however I chose to give him time to grow and fill out properly. He is a big boy... He will be picked up and shipped to McCutchens Farm in SC on Thursday to begin some serious training before he goes to the track... I will be one of the happiest person just to see him at the track and hopefully in that winners circle. I've been there, but this would be special, very special to me...... for more reasos than one.........

Just spoke to the training center today and I was informed that Charlie is galloping two and a half miles a day and should have his first breeze in a few weeks,,,,For those who have horses in training at training centers, how often do you call to get a report on your horse or do you wait for them to call you with updates??

Well I spoke to Jason at the training center and Charlie had his first breeze. According to Jason he was impressed with his breeze. he's only been there a month but he is very fit. Jason indicates that he is still a little green around people but he is coming around. I told him to take time to do whatever he has to do with him, I would like to have him in the best possible condition both mentally and physically when he gets to the track. I must also admit I am getting nervous. Somewhere down the road there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Alas....My boy is ready to come home and hit the tracks for racing. The center says he's ready to be shipped to the track. He's been there for the winter getting his lessons and learning his trade. I will finally get a chance to see him strut his stuff when he arrives. Should I say butterflies in the stomach...yeah
Well I am pleased to say that Champion Charlie made his debut at Belmont on Sunday, It was a MSW going a mile and eight on the Turf. Really did not want him to go that far on his first try but that's another story...I must however say that although he did not win I was very proud of him. He showed tremendous speed and was somewhat rankgoing into the first turn. He opened a 10 length lead on the field then got tired after setting those fractions. I was soooo ecstatic after the race you would have thought that I just won. But it was just that feeling that this was the very first horse that I bred and he was somewhat competitive in a very tough race. Spoke to the jock after the race and all signals were good. He did not want to beat him up as this was his first race and it was a little long. I went to the barn later to see Charlie and he was into his feed tub and looking good. It felt really good the see that lanky colt that was born in April run his first race,,,Yeah he made it That's ma boy
