How is Allou?

I just saw Invasor again on Friday and it is surprising how much Vader looks like his daddy - can you say "spitting image" Allou is fine, thanks for asking. Now if she would just remember that she is a broodmare and not a racehorse she could move into a paddock much quicker with the baby. Oh well, next week they should move to the next step and he should at least be able to semi-follow. She just leaves them in the dust and runs her babies ragged. In the stall she's a great mom, outside she either forgets she has one or figures they'll keep up or else

What about when she doesn't have a foal by her side? Does she run continuously then, or does she ever settle down to graze? I've seen mares who somehow think that their foal is "chasing" them when it runs along behind them. I wonder if a little ace to calm her down might smooth the transition into the big field.

She always runs and kicks it up when you first turn her out, even when she is big and fat and pregnant. She settles down but by then she is at the far end of the field or back and the baby is usually at the other end. When the baby squeals for her she never answers or lifts her head from grazing to answer it or look for it. Pretty pathetic. Once the baby catches up or "finds her", she is fine and keeps it by her side. When we had the six mares and the Toccet filly was little, the poor filly would go to each mare looking for her momma - Allou would be out there just grazing away while the filly just screamed for her. Guess she figured she'd find her eventually - until then she'd have some peace and quiet
