Madera TBs 2015 Foal Watch

Volunteering for foal watch on the farm after my day shift ends. The first of 17 arrived yesterday, all of these are by Elusive Warning.

#1 is a FILLY out of Chicago Gal

2/23/15- A Shitty day at the farm. Vezina foaled 2 weeks early and her foal unable to rise. She died hours after giving birth (Vet was on the scene as soon as we brought mare and foal up) from internal bleeding. Milked as much colostrum as we could for her orphan colt, and he seems to be pulling through- he looks early to me, and it has taken him several days to be able to stand up on his own. Apologies if the picture is too graphic, but it about summed up the moment for me, as I lay with my back against the stall-wall, trying to be this colt's mother.

I say this because Madera ads are up for the sale of the mare for $8,500. http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-852692


When I had called their prices went up as I called from 4000 in January without them changing their ads to 8,500. So to me it felt unfair and I was NOT sure about the place that sells dead animals.

The lady that posts the equinenow ads is not employed by the farm, and has refused to remove ALL of the ads despite many attempts asking her to do so. We have no mares for sale, but please call and come talk to Cal- I'm sure he is willing to part with some if he gets to know you.

Edited to include that we lost Vezina's orphan colt as well.

3-10-15 "G Ma" delivered a very flashy colt.
