Transporting mares after 30 days is usually fine. Most thoroughbreds are well travelled and don't get too stressed.

As for the mare that ran in the grand national, it is well known that pregnancy can often increase stamina, and this is widely practice (not that it is something necessarily I would do). Here in the UK you are allowed to run a mare in foal up to 100 days pregnancy, after that they aren't allowed to run.

Sorry, Mike. Did you transport her yet? There still may be time for another try at pregnancy this season. "Slips" are so common. One day there's a fetus, and the next day there is none. The mares just handle it fine.

Thanks Henthorn ! No ; we never did transport her but opted to keep her in Ky. along with our other mare until both current babies were weaned around end of June. Once the babies are weaned we'd ship them ( the babies ) off to S. Carolina and the mares back home to New Jersey. At least that was the plan which still is intact for the babies. Now we'll just keep the mares in Ky. and Carly will revisit Devil His Due, assuming we can get her back in cycle, while we wait to see if our other mare is in foal to Mutakddim on a 2nd. cover as well ( we found her to have a urinary infection after 1st. cover ). Vet in Ky. ( Rood & Riddle ) tells me he's seeing an unusual percentage of mares slipping around 45 days or so.
Meanwhile, back in New Jersey, my Wife's Pinto mare is " hopefully " in foal to the champion Arabian Stallion Klint Black on 1st. insemination. What a week this has been !!!

Holy Cow... got a call from Ky. this evening. They said that Carly came around again today & will revisit Devil His Due tomorrow. Tell ya what ... when that mare eventually does come home, pregnant or not, I'm gonna plant a great big wet, sloppy kiss right on her mouth ( pictures pending ) 'cause she's absolutely doing her best. And here I thought the roller coaster ride at Coney Island was something...damn I'm getting old !
One other thing...I can't say enough good things about the job Ramona Good is doing with my mares. Look her up...you'll be happy you did !!!

Good luck on both the Devil His Due mating and that with Mutakddim - he's one of my favorite breed to race horses as well.
