Lovely filly Dray! Do they believe she will grey out or stay chestnut?
How are the rest of your broodmares?

Safe travels home...

Home now, thanks ak1. She will remain a chestnut according the farm manager. Not a spot of gray. I saw another "chestnut" baby, and he showed me the indications that the foal would be a gray. Brushed Bayou (i/f to Unbridled's Song) is HUGE, due to foal early to mid March. Very excited.

I think you have to run her Dray. If i was in your shoes i would run but not before running her through a 2 yr old sale. If you get good money for her at the sale i would sell her and remember you are the breeder. if not im running.

When I first called, they said "cute little star, with a white sock". Well, as you can see, it's a BIG star, and two white socks! And a tiny, tiny little snip on her muzzle. Since Staria isn't a big horse, and the sire (Rahy) is not so big, she is really just perfect at 110 pounds. She will not be a big horse, just nice average we think, but that is fine by me. They are having some real big horses at the farm, one was 140-something pounds. I got to see a lot of mommies and the babies, some only 24 hours old. It was all very new to me... what a great way to spend some time.

I'm not so sure about the two-year old sale, I think a horse like this... if she continues to develop well, might do fine as a yearling (these Rahy's are becoming scarce). Only if she is perfect however. My predilection is to race her myself. On the fence right now.

Congrats! A Rahy filly is a special blessing.

Or Starry. My daughter wants to name this one. She's thinking "Travel Lamy" after her favorite stuffed animal, or "Cheshire Smile" from a song she likes.
