Lovely babies! The Miss Ballet filly's elegant, you're right. She looks like she's walking like a real society belle. That "sire unknown" has some serious presence. Just look at how she stacks herself and looks into the camera. Is it "we have our suspicions" *wink wink*? Or am putting the *wink wink* into it? Did Rocking Trick get some unlicensed groove on?
Gonna have super fun naming the Miss Ballet filly with breeding like that. Just let us know if you have anything in mind or a particular word to use cuz if not, let the games begin!

Miss Ballet is a bit of a hardass mare to handle once she has a foal.. and after she struck and kicked everyone last year I swore her next foal would be named "Somethin' Wicked". But number one it's not available, and number two this year we've reached detente and she still pins her ears and swings that butt around but so far has allowed the filly to be handled. You should have seen her, though, when we took her to Hap (her date this year). She was NOT a happy mare.
But she is a huge, powerful mare with an incredible build and I think she has a great pedigree. She is not a "pretty" horse, rather just a very impressive one. Recently her family has been getting its share of stakes wins, including her half sister, Grinch, and the offspring of her older half sibling, Merry Krisoke. I am extremely pleased with her Rocky baby.. I happened into a season to Hap and I love that cross also. It's hard not to like Northern Dancer through Nureyev and Nijinsky. She will likely go back to Rocky next year.
Regarding the other filly, I acquired two "open" mares last February. This filly is from one of them. It is quite a tale... but her parentage will need to be verified and there is a bit involved with this one. But, no, she is not a Rocky baby.

Your Miss Ballet reminds me of the original name given to Leap For Joy before I purchased her. Leap's dam is On Your Toes and descends from Street Ballet. Leap's name was Miss Tippy Toes. I changed it in 2001, so it may be available again.
You really need to see if you can get the mystery foal registered. She looks like the real deal.

Regarding the mystery filly, I am working through the logistics. I have been promised a copy of the stud contract (which had a substantially reduced fee for the particular stallion). Once I have that in hand I will likely proceed through reporting the live foal and sending in the DNA. It is still a hefty fee, even at half off, so I will insure the filly if the DNA is positive, and pay the fee or see if the stud farm will work with me on it.
She is a very nice filly. Nickname is Immaculata (for Immaculate Conception). The farm where the dam was boarded last year said they never sent the mare to the stallion because "her cervix wasn't open."

At least you got more to go on than those poor guys with Amazing Philly. Wow just having your mare drop a foal at the track (as I recall) is crazy.

Yes, Amazing Philly certainly provides an interesting case. I met Bill and Linda Gallagher last summer at Saratoga and got the straight story.
They purchased a filly at a sale, and 11-1/2 months later she had just raced a couple of days before. The trainer popped into her stall and there was a filly by her side. They firmly believe she was covered by one of the colts at the sale. Still, even with the list of possible sires narrowed to that extent, the Jockey Club claimed to be unable to identify the sire.
Amazing Philly went on to race with her racing permit; without JC papers she is not "breeding stock" and she is now a child's riding horse on a farm in Pennsylvania, I believe.
In this case, the farm that reported to her prior owner that she had not been covered must be the culprits. The stud farm shows that she WAS covered, once in June, and the dates coincide. But no one even checked, since it was believed she was not covered.

So couldn't they in theory test the covering stallion and put this thing to bed? I guess she must be a good riding horse but would there be any reason to breed her given the opportunity? I can't remember what she accomplished so if it's not significant enough to justify too much, I'm sure she's happy being ridden and nothing else.

Glad to see someone from the forum going to Hap. I think he has a lot of potential.......

Great pictures! Your mystery filly is stunning. Are you going to give us any hints as to her sire?

I was talking about my filly, not Amazing Philly. Amazing Philly resulted from what is believed to be a random cover at Fasig Tipton (horse sale) and it could be one of over a hundred colts. In the case of my filly, the farm that boarded the mare told the owner she was never covered. But the farm with the stallion recorded that mare being covered on June 17th, and have so reported to the Jockey Club. So it IS possible that she is by El Corredor.
