Pedigree Query

Here is a pic of one of our other mares who is due to pop just about any day. I figure it will probably be this weekend only because we're getting our first cold snap (30's at night)!! Her name is Ria's Little Angel, and she is interestingly bred....ND free....(she's in the database http://www.pedigreequery.com/rias+little+angel) . I also have her dam, Nottingham Lace.

We call her just Angel, and she really is....very sweet and loving.

Angel is very tall at 17 hands. She's 8 years old and this is her first breeding/first foal. She is in foal to our perlino AQHA stallion for a dilute appendix. Since we lost our first baby last month, we are very much looking forward to this one. Wish us luck!!

I love your webshots, too! If anyone missed it, click on the photo to bring it up. Are you the girl in the photo? I love the ones with the mare rolling in the dirt after her bath, the kitty love, and the carrot treat. Interesting pedigree on Angel. Superficially, I'd think she might match up well with some Nasrullah, Northern Dancer, and/or Halo.

Thanks Henthorn. No, that's not me, that's my 13-year old daughter, Rowan. The one who inherited her mom's horse-crazy gene!! That girl is something else, let me tell you. I really wish I had the resources, connections or whatever to get her into the hands of a good jumping instructor. The girl has glue in her butt and can ride like nobody's business. She has no fear....but I have enough for both of us! <lol> She wants to ride in the Olympics and at the FEI/USEF level, but we do not have the means, she would definitely need a full sponsor. However, I have had a vision of Rowan on the cover a Wheaties box, so I know one day it will come. She will be the "Tiger Woods" of equestrian sports!

Thank you, too, for the insightful comment on the breeding, but we don't race or breed to race. Truth be told, I'm really not even a racing fan! I picked Bernardini over Invasor!

Glad you liked the photos. Angel is a very special mare. When I got her, she was about 400 lbs. underweight. She was all ribs and hipbones, and the rainrot sores were incredible-the worst I've ever seen. She has made a remarkable recovery just because we loved her (and her dam who was the same way).

I just knew Angel was going to drop this weekend, but she's holding on tight. We put her into her private paddock last night, put in all fresh shavings, new buckets, etc. just pampering her. Gave her lots of peppermints and some oranges. She doesn't much like being alone, but can at least visit over the fence, and the others are within eyesight and "hollering distance".

She's beginning to really bag up, but since this is her first, her bags aren't long or droopy, just really plump. She does have two odd lumps though, just forward of the bag, maybe 3 inches or so, side by side, corresponding to each teat. Anyone know what that is?
