Mare - chestnut with white blaze, back legs with white sock and white stocking bred to
Stallion - dark bay with white blaze, 2 white stockings in front and white sock in back

Is chestnut a dominant color..previously bred her to bay and got a chestnut.. with a star and no other white..when bred to a chestnut with no white got a foal identical to mare (with blaze, sock and stocking)

I have my preference in markings..but good health is more important

You could get a chestnut, bay or brown. If I were to bet, I would bet on chestnut. As far as white goes, I bred the same mare to the same horse two years in a row, one year I got a chestnut with a blaze face and 4 stockings. The next year I got a solid bay with no markings.

Vivid Dreams ranges from black to dark brown to deep purple to marbled brown, depending on the time of year and amount of sunshine. But her first three foals were dark brown, chestnut, and bay. Kinda like humans with brunette, redhead and blond all in the same family. :P

Here is a link to a neat coat color calculator. You put in variables, such as the colors of the sire and dam, and any other known characteristics, and it calculates percentages. It's worked well for me thus far, having a perlino stallion.
