Congratulations on what looks to be a bouncing baby boy. He sure is nice looking, even with his blankie!

Nice, Joe. It must have been cold in your area. Thankfully our ice and snow and bitter cold ended last week, before my mare bore her colt. Now it's between 30-60 each day. He gets kicked out into the outdoor run tomorrow, has been kept in the barn until now.

All is going well, he is now just over two weeks old.

He is the nicest foal we have had. Best of all his 2 year old half sister is going well at the track being broke.

I went back to the first pix on the thread...amazing how in 2 weeks there is so much growth..I read where foal gain a 100 pounds a month until they are 6 months old and then they are 75% of their weight and the weight gain slows down...imagine gaining a 100 a month as a human

We only have four mares to foal this year. I just took the second mare to the vet today to foal. As of right now we are only going to bred 3 for next year. Getting too many horses.
We had an icestorm the night he was born (feb 13) day after my birthday and the day before valentines. The mare went about a week early, 324 days gestation.

Good luck with the second mare and your colt looks well balanced and is filling out beautifully!
