goin nuts!!!!!
My maidian mare is going on a week late to foal. Is it common for the first foal to be late or early!!!!!! This is both our first time
Any advice about first foals?????
I wouldn't be too concerned about a week late
Lots of us have had to wait more than three weeks
She'll go when she's ready - as to us women folk..... hang in there and let us know when she goes.

Sunday,
Boy, do we know what you're going through right now! We just had our first delivery on our own a couple weeks ago, and I didn't sleep for two weeks! Our mare was barren for a few years, and she went just about a week later than average (Foaled on Day 347) so don't be too alarmed. She never waxed up at all, which was what we were looking for, so we were going a bit nuts ourselves. We just kept watching the foaling DVD and readjusting the foaling kit, and watching that monitor on the stall all night long.......but in the end, the mare was a pro. She did all the heavy work and we got to watch, help a little when she got tired delivering the shoulders, and marvel at the great creation that popped out into our arms!
We have another mare that will be foaling her third foal in a few weeks, and her first two (both colts) both went to day 355 (the last one was our first foal, but she was at a boarding farm and we weren't able to get there until the day after he was born) so it sounds like you're still in good shape.
