B J Runner had a very nice filly by Rocking Trick in the early hours yesterday morning. Dark bay, no white. Will try to get some pictures later today. Our score is now 6 for 6. We have three colts and three fillies. One more mare to foal.

The fellow who sold me B J Runner last year wants to buy the filly. Now. :D Wish it was always that easy.

Ummmm... last one? Probably another filly. Mare was bred late in the day.

Does that really have something to do with it or are you pulling a newbie's leg? (I need to go back and see when my mares were bred :)

Hellif I know. Is it an old wives tale?

The old sages say if you want a filly breed late in the day, for a colt you need an early cover in the day. "They" say it has to do with the changing ph in the mare's system throughout the day.. who knows? My mare Express to Boston had a filly -- I think she was covered at 2 in the afternoon. Glenfiddich Fire had a colt and I recall her being covered in the morning.

Overnight Deposit had an 8am cover by Scrimshaw last week.. we'll see what comes out of that. I would love to know if anyone else out there has any sex-results-based-on-cover-time-of-day data for us to ooh and aah over.

Well it was a filly, born about half an hour ago. So we have three colts and four fillies for the year and lost NONE. Whew.

GREAT JOB MADELYN :) Now just to get them all back in foal!

You know I mentioned that my Seattle Slew mare didn't take - well she didn't come in heat and didn't come in heat and lo' and behold - she ended up being pregnant - don't know how they missed it on the exam but who cares - she is pregnant on her foal heat and we were able to move her up that's all I care about right now. So all mares are in foal! YIPPEE.

Glad you got all of them on the ground and doing well. We were five for five this year (three colts and two fillies).
