Went to Lexington and got pics of the new babies...this crew is all by Van Nistelrooy...including the dark bay yearling ...Johnny Turk Band(she is a rescue) and All Girls Band are full sisters and bred back to back to Van Nistelrooy....either it was a great decision or we're crazy but won't know till they race...

I really like the breeding of your ladies with Van Nistelrooy. His dam was such a great producer, and the inbreeding to Northern Dancer should be a plus, and the ladies' Mr. Prospector ancestry goes well with the Halo background of the stud.

On another note, the Lexington pastures sure do look DRY! I guess the drought conditions are deepening since I was there last month. Here in OKC we're expecting another three inches of rain in the next three days. I feel like we are in Monsoon Season.

My goodness, what dapples on Johnny in the second pic! She's practically glowing. :)

The first batch of VN's have racked up several wins already....if nothing else, you can guess they'll be ready early.

Henthorn...we breed to race....that was the theory behind the choice of Van N as stud...his confirmation and that Halo mare....that and his price...it's a challenge to find who we want to go to at a price that we can afford...he's good looking but at the time unproven but he seems to be doing really well now..we tried to outcross this year and we contracted with Candy Ride...All Girls Band had a very late May foal and Johnny had a late April foal and didn't take the first time so we're giving them the year off and starting early in 2008..we want to stick with Candy Ride....on the dry grass isssue it is very very dry.....and yes Lucy those dapples...she is one healthy, happy momma....they both are and the four of them are inseperable...seems that they know they are all related.

Great looking babies! And the KY grass looks as dried up as the OH grass. And by the way MareMc56 - where's the photo of Hokie Dots I think  I was promised :)

Wonderful pictures. I like your mares looks, and the foals look like winners to me. :)

The pastures look like the ones in Texas usually look by now... however Texas and Oklahoma are having too much rain. What a turn around this year's weather is at the moment. It is summer in Texas, and we have daily rain, and temperatures under 90 degrees. My pasture is very green at the moment. I am not complaining.

Thank you for your comments...when I look at baby pictures it makes it all seem right in this crazy racing world...I always feel like my cup is half full....does a body good to go to Lexington(well Paris in this case) and dream about what the future might hold...I am not talking KY Derby...I'd be happy with a healthy horse who only ran allowances but came back safe after each trip...and I have made a promise to look after all of my babies and mares for life...... and Van Nistelrooy is doing really well right now and it was a crapshoot at the time of breeding...God bless the horse Gods!
