still dwelling on a name

Postby tammysinnett » Thu Aug 09, 2007 12:07 am

I have my boy his mamma Booties, his daddy Summit Climber. Somehow we have been dwelling on names for some time...there is that all time favorite someone came up with Shoepa...but since we have called him Rocky from birth somehow I couldnt put the two together....along with others we thought of Ironhouse(son suggested after his gym since this boy is muscular),FultonCounty(my husband thought of since thats where we live) Shoebedowah....something I came up with but any anouncer would probably give me some grief...I liked Balboa but can't use, thought of Rock of Ages...my husband just gave me that look. Then tonight I did my nightly Bible flip and I read about the Valley of Barachah. It had to do with Booty left over where Jehoshaphat overthrew the Moabites and Ammonites (2 Chr. 20:26). How do you all feel about using a name out of the bible?would that be just taking it to the edge??? Do you think anyone would find the connection??if we just JC him at Barachah??I know it has nothing to do with a mountain but it is about a Valley???Dont laugh I am getting deaperate. and I kinda liked it because it reminds me of Barbaro...a name I will never forget. In researching the name Booty(even though she is after a shoe) one definition said it was things left behind from those mountain climbing...thought that was neat.....this is the closest I have come to the thought....so guys help me out here am I just thinking to hard or what. Feel free to come up with more suggestions. Rocky needs something strong, beautiful and eye catching. thankyou everyone....never have been good at names ...my poor son ended up with four names!!!

How about something like "My Everest"? Seems like you've had a bit of an uphill task. If you want something direct, "Rock Boot" is available.

We've got a chestnut bruiser by Diazo out of Lady Bomb that is a real hard head. I bought the mare already in foal so had no say in the sire.. anyhow he has the most unique marking I've ever seen, a double cowlick, two side-by-side cowlicks dead center on his forehead, in the middle of a big white blaze. His nickname has been "double diamond".. and last night my son and I were playing penny poker. We hit on THE name for that colt.. "Man With The Axe" for the king of diamonds. It describes his personality perfectly, he is a shocking shade of red, and he has those diamonds on his forehead.. it is that time of year, brutally hot and boring. So it's fun to play name games.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Well, being Trinity Ranch and all, I absolutely LOVE bible names. All my foals have names that point to God. It's so funny that I have been thinking about possible names for the one that's coming due in October....yeah, a late one. If it is a colt, I was thinking of Rock of Ages!! And Rocky for a barn name. I like Barachah, too, though....and you're right. It does smack of Barbaro, Bernardini......those powerhouse one-word names. I like it!

Crampons seems to come to my mind. Not particularly elegant.

Base Camp?
Snowshoes?
