I have been waiting for DAYS (ok weeks) for my mare to foal.
She has been waxed over for over a week... The wax has varied.. but she is CLEARLY waxed over. Its a little bigger today so I hope I get a Valentines day foal. Its enough to drive me nuts.
I have been sick and its been sooo cold that I was happy she has held off so far but its not going to be warm anytime in the future.
Anyone else going nuts??

Haha! My friend is going through the same thing right now. She has been doing foal watch by herself for just about a week. She is starting to put sugar in the fridge etc.

I feel for you. Hopefully she won't keep you waiting much longer. Happy foaling

Hi I am Mood Swings friend who has been putting sugar in the fridge!!!lol i feel for you. We purchased this mare end of January and i quickly had her shipped up here from KY as her last cover of 2007 was Feb 27th. She arrived and the wait was on... last Friday she had gobs of wax & her udder was nice & full.., i slept in the barn all week, Wednesday night she went into the first stage of labour.. i was so excited.. i was picturing me in my bed sleeping..lol From 2 a.m. - 4 i watched her, nothing she stopped.
I went back to sleep in my make shift bed in the barn. Last night, Valentines Day, i went up around 9 and i was just loafing around.. at 9:30 she went in to labour.. YAY. She gave birth to a cute little colt at 11 p.m. last night. THANK GOD!!! Oh and the one thing different last night was she was pouring milk!! Let us know what is happening.

I should have started this thread.
I have been waiting for over a week now for Gone Fishin's first foal to arrive. Every night at least twice. She seems like she is going into labor. Pawing, kicking her belly, banging her butt on the wall. Up and down, lays down so I go running out to the barn and nothing!!!! Driving me crazy!!! I am so tired and excited all at the same time. She is close, maybe tonight????
Westover you have go to get a barn cam. That way you can at least stay in a warm bed and watch her. Glad you have a healthy foal.

totally.. Barn Cams are a lifesaver and aren't that much $$$
I just got home from work..
No call so far and I am not going to the farm to sleep tonight.
This mare is always 2-3 weeks early.. so this is confusing me!

Same with my mare she is always about 10-12 days early. Now she is only 5 days from her due date. Watch her go over. I will be a zombie by then. Good luck.

Its a FILLY!!
My chestnut mare with a BIG blaze, White Lips and 4 white socks delivered a PLAIN bay filly about 3am today.
I got there about 3:45 and she had stood, nursed, and pooped already.
All I had to do it put her blanket on
Very TALL Smart filly.
Of course I forgot the camera.
I was held over at work until 3am, had just got home and crawled in bed at 3:10 when I got the call.. and on the way to the farm a freezing Ice storm started and when I left it took me 1 hour 40 mins to drive the normal 30 min drive! I am exhausted. And I have to work again at 3pm.
Hopefully no one calls in sick tonight. I have worked 24 hours in the last 2 days.
Pictures tomorrow!
