Got another colt

Postby clh » Sat Apr 12, 2008 5:59 pm

Allou had her foal this week - nice big chestnut Good Reward colt. Haven't seen him yet because of the whole broken hip thing but hope to get in the w/c soon and scurry on over to check the big guy out. So we're done for the year :) All colts. Not as much bling - 2 chestnuts and one bay. Whew!!

So glad everything is going well, C. Still waiting for an overdue Oklahoma foal, and Spanish Guitar isn't due until May in NY.

I'd say I'd trade you a one or two so you could have a colt or two but somehow LB I think yours are worth more than mine  But if you are still interested in a trade we'll work something out

Madelyn maybe we'll get down and see our new ones on the same day!

Just as a side - my vet and his wife have some TB, Paints and QH and they had a new Paint the same time Honor had her Suave colt and I swear it was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen. I was sure it would fit in my Tahoe and I had real thoughts of bringing it home :)

Look at the size of out Broken Vow filly. I think she thinks she's a colt.

LOL Madelyn, that's what I was thinking too. Look at that short back, thick neck and that engine.....very nice filly. Congrats!

I have no idea where all that chunkiness came from. It's the first foal o/o the dam and at two and a half months, the filly is already about half as tall as she is.

This is my first Broken Vow. I was hoping for big and athletic (which he seems to produce pretty regularly) and we sure got it. We have another BV foal coming in a few weeks. It will be interesting to compare the two.

She's a beauty LB - and yes, built like a tank. I always thought a chestnut filly should be called "Brick House" and she sure looks like it! It has been really interesting having two from the same sire this year for us - you'll have to let us know how it goes for you. Completely different mom's but the babies seems to have (so far) pretty similar personalities. Hard to tell on size yet since one was a Jan babe and the other was a late March babe but Suave sure gives them a sweatheart personality (even if the mom is a b**ch). And okay, I'll trade my chestnut colt for that old tanky looking chestnut filly (HA). As I lay here in bed drooling over her ;)

haha you are going to have fun when they learn all about fillies next spring :D Talk about testosterone!

So far I will have 11 colts and 8 fillies to take care of.

The farm has had 18 colts and 13 fillies with 12 left to foal :)

Moodswings.
Let me clarify. This is not just this year. I mean over the time I have been breeding. We only have a couple usually a year. We have, however had 3 colts so far this year, with one left to foal. It has been 3 years since I have had a filly!!!!!! So, so far their is no problem with them being turned out together. I had 2 colts last year. Lets pray I get that filly by Gone Fishin with the next one. Maybe there is something in the water? :?
