Last Crop: Good News and Bad News

Postby ZiaLand » Fri May 16, 2008 9:03 pm

Our last crop of foals were all born healthy this year but since we are getting out of the business, we have sold all our mares and foals.

Netta Gayle Bell - lovely bay filly by Devon Lane (Storm Cat)
Glorieta had a bay filly by Bay Head King (Saint Ballado)
African Nights had a bay colt by Devon Lane (Storm Cat)
Miss Arkansas had a dark bay colt by Lazy Lode(ARG)

On a very sad note, the new owner called to report that Netta Gayle Bell dropped dead in her paddock today. It was very sudden with no symptoms. Cause has not been determined. Her filly seems to be doing well. Netta's pedigree and pic are in the database.

I feel terrible. Netta was an exceptional mare and a pleasure to be around. She was five years old. RIP Netta.

Thanks for your thoughts, Nessa. If this filly runs as good as she looks, there may be some breeder's incentives in the picture for us down the road. She really is a lovely, intelligent, big, well put together individual. I regret we didn't get any decent pictures of her that I'd want to post. We certainly hope she continues to prosper without mom.

Zialand - sorry to hear about the mare. Hugs to you. Hope the foal does well - do they have her on a nurse mare?

Again, sorry to hear you're getting out of the business but I know you and hubby did alot of soul searching.

I know I owe you an e-mail.

So sorry, Laurie. What an empty feeling you must have! Don't look back and wonder "what if?". I'm sure you made the right decision about selling the horses. But it still hurts! :(
