Well when it rains it pours as the saying goes....here is my story.....Our first year at stallion breeding we bred three mares, the first mare aborted twins in her second trimester, the other two gave us one of each a colt and a filly. The filly was amazing she is beautiful.....but she came up lame in training (Monday)they feel it is due to the old injury as a foal when she cut her leg think it caused undetected issues. Then the colt who has been about 12 miles from here waiting for training was in the field with his pasture buddy.last night..the pasture buddy was struck by Lightning...killing the horse instantly...our colt they feel must either have also been hit or he is in serious shock....he is lethargic and just lays his head in your hands(he is standing) the vet to come today to check on him.....we are not sure of his future but it doesnt look good. I cant believe that within two days we lost both of my boys babies not to racing but nonracing injuries. I am sad but my concern lies in their future......I guess three strikes and I am out.....now we must wait till 2010 to see if we have a racer.....
but most of all my heart goes out to the pasture buddy he was a teenage girls 4H horse......she is emotionally destrate over the loss..... if anyone out there knows of a wonderful riding horse a gentle giant please please let me know her parents would love to give a horse a good home....but they need something very gentle.
