Pedigree Query

4 weeks and a day after her due date, our mare, Cozzy Rhythm, foaled a leggy, chestnut Rimrod filly a few minutes before midnight last night! For Cozzy, going a month over is average. She's gone a year with several!
Mother and baby are doing just fine this morning. The new little gal joins a merry band of 5 older siblings in the homebred queue.
Not sure whether this little gal will turn grey, but Cozzy has lots of chestnuts in her family, including her dam. Will get pictures tomorrow.

Congrats, we almost bought a mare in foal to Rimrod this November. She had a nice 2yo on the verge of breaking his maiden (and then he did a couple weeks later in a MSW), but the mares conformation scared us off.

Congratulations! Our first mare was 10 days "late" and I was growing impatient; it would have driven me crazy to wait an extra month.

Congratulations! All of my foals except this year's have always been late but, luckily, never four weeks. How could you stand the suspense?

As I said, when she carried over a year with the first 3, I knew we were going to have to be patient with her every time. The only time she foaled early (for her, 3 weeks past the due date) was on my hubby's birthday in '06, in the afternoon...her best paddock pal went in and foaled, so Cozzy decided she had to, too!
Ascot Stud, Rimrod is one of the best looking and very correct stallions I've ever seen in the flesh. Telegraphs Northern Dancer big time. I think he will be very good for this region. He's also very classy individual. No freaky stud behavior away from the shed. All business.
This makes it three girls in a row for Cozzy. She will be headed for another date with Rimrod in a few weeks.

By the way, have you guys ever heard of something called Predictafoal?
They're using it at the breeding farm here, and so far, it's been 100% accurate in predicting that foaling will occur within 8-12 hours. It's a test strip for the milk, so it must detect enzyme changes or something.
Anyway, they used it on Cozzy yesterday at 5pm, and the test revealed foaling was imminent, with 12 hours. She went within 7.
Cool stuff.

We use Predictafoal kits frequently.....we wait until their hind ends change and the consistancy of milk is right and then we start testing in the evenings. We have found it to be pretty reliable, and it's fun to use if you are easily amused, like me

Rimrod comes from a solid European family, his dam Annie Edge was a tough, workmanlike racemare. She is also the dam of highclass Selkirk (by Sharpen Up) who is doing well as a stallion. Rimrods granddam Friendly Court was a useful 2yo 5f winner in Ireland.

We have two lovely babies by Rimrod's full brother, Syncline, out of the same mare; a 3yo. filly who hasn't started yet, and our 4yo. gelding, who's already stakes placed.
Annie Edge lived at the farm where our broodmare and baby are, and I love the family.
The Danzig/Cozzene cross has already proven itself, so we're very happy with the newest arrival.
