Good luck to you Karen. I hope you get a lovely foal. She is carrying a Stormy Jack, right? This time of year is so fun and filled with hope. I also hope dhe doesn't keep you waiting too long. I've been waiting for over 2 weeks for one of mine and hopefully i won't have to return home before its born!

I called to check on my mare, who is due tomorrow. They said they have 16 horses on the farm that are past the due dates. It was the cold, slowed them down, but the warmer weather will change that. They expect to be super busy, soon. Don't be too worried... hope all goes well.

We have several mares overdue right now. My friends mare was last bred on 02/20/08 and is still hanging in there. My friend however is starting to suffer the effects of sleep deprivation :P

Your mare looks great btw :)

Do you think that there is something in the air that is making alot of these mares go longer?
or am I just jumping the gun.

Ours often go 3 weeks or more over. I'd be shocked if any went on their due dates! Your mare looks big, but normal to me. Here are my two fatties who are not due until March 26th and April 8th respectively and who both tend to go 3 weeks over - I took these pictures on 2/25:

They are fatties alright, lol
I am so jealous of the green! We have had several sunny days in a row and temps around 10 degrees celcius, so at least I can be optimistic that spring is literally around the corner :)

I love the green too - weather has been in the 80's with a nice breeze. We are in a drought though, so hopefully we'll get some rain this week to really get the grass growing. We plan to reseed some of our feilds that were over-grazed this winter.
Both of my mares are in foal to Straight Man (St Ballado), sire of Get Funky and some other decent runners. The darker bay mare is going back to Chapel Royal and the blood bay with the blaze is taking a break for a year or two - longer if the Straight Man foal is not super duper. She's a pet, so not a problem if we retire her.

Not to cast stones (and admittedly I am no expert) but "conformationally speaking", the foal in the foreground seems a bit small, and short legged. Sickle hocked, back at the knees and a bit toed-in. Maybe a hunter/jumper?

Yes, little Sasha is a bit conformationally challenged and an "air fern" to boot! She's quick out of the starting gate, but has no staying speed (have to check her dosage!)....
