Colts versus fillies

Postby Mood Swings » Sat Feb 13, 2010 6:54 pm

I know I posted last year so I am keeping with tradition ;)

So far this year we have had *9* Colts and no fillies!

My first mare due to foal is currently eight days overdue...

Anyone else?

I'm at 73% fillies lifetime. :(

In 2007 we had 3 colts; other than that we've always had either none or one.

Mood Swings, you must have all my colts.

Geez...all I get is colts! Total over the years

Im done breeding too. Didnt rebreed last year and sold my stallion and 2 of my mares last fall. Just sold my last 2009 foal on Friday. Just family trail mounts and my reining gelding left.

I'm just amazed you've had 13 foals by Feb. 20th. How many will you have total?

Not all in one year, but I just had my 6th filly in a row.

We've had alot more colts than fillies (and I'm the one that prays for fillies every year).

If I'm counting right, we've had 15 colts and 4 fillies.

it's weird how it varies by the years, last year we were bombarded by fillies early, this year so far the few we have had are all colts.

The farm where my mares live started with 8 fillies out of the first 10 last year. This year it's 6 colts, 4 fillies. There have been years where the entire foal crop (about 30) doesn't have as many as 6 colts so this is a departure. And so far we're 2 for 2 (colts). Yay!

Mood Swings, I don't know whether to be envious of you--or relieved that I'm not you, LOL.

You have so many chances to get something really good--and so many chances for something to go wrong. Best of luck! :)
