Huge colt at about 6:20 this morning, Rocking Trick's first out of Schwank (3x3 Clever Trick)... thinking about "No More Tricks", "Too Tricky", etc.

I'm beat. Been holding this bugger up for about three hours on and off. He's already halfway to his dam's shoulder and it's hard to get him to nurse because he has to bend his front knees. Legs like trees.. He must weigh 175... Thank heavens for baby monitors, heard her water break, and no it doesn't sound like peeing.

Will do pics later.. just made more coffee and back to the barn.. :D

Madelyn, were you the one who picked up one or two clever trick sons for stud? There were some in the NE last year at Canter, and I thought someone on this board got him, or them (forget which son).

Clever Trick really stamps his get, doesn't he, his sons do too, those strong legs and to my mind really sound looking pasterns, (I panic over overly long and fragile TB pasterns) as long as they aren't too short. I just keep thinking what great sport horses they would make. Eventers, and such.

I Hope We Can See Pictures of your Rocking Trick Baby soon.

:D

No. You are, I believe, thinking about Screen Trick and PF First Trick... mine is a Rocking Trick, a son of Phone Trick that is a multiple G1 stakes winner and started 30 times. His picture is my avatar. He was on the board (1-2-3) in a total of nine graded stakes, including winning a 1000m sprint in 54.33 seconds (3/10's sec off the world record). I got him in the end of December 2003, and these are his first foals this year. Rocking Trick is out of the Storm Cat mare, Razzi Cat. His half-sister, Randy Cat, won 5 g1's, including against the boys. His dam is half brother to the top steeplechaser, Yaw, by Seattle Slew. That horse had his picture in this week's Blood Horse on page 238. He raced for the Entenmans, who have Artie Schiller this year. Rocking Trick's third dam has 11 G1 Stakes Winners under her, including Maid's Causeway. Rocking Trick was claimed by someone I know, for $35,000. He won for them, on the turf and on the dirt, and when he retired I purchased him privately.

Rocking Trick has a very good book of outside mares coming this year, and stands here, at my farm in Louisville KY, for $3500.

A BIG congratulations!! I've been checking every day and wondering if she was ever going to foal and let you get some rest.

Sorry this one wasn't a girl, but hope everything else about him is just perfect. Post photos when you can.

Congrats, and thank your mare for sending mental oxytocin thoughts our way... our mare finally foaled this morning!

Did the mare have any trouble delivering your supersized foal?

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!

You had to wait so long and mummy let you and us board members wait very long. But I do hope you are pleased with this little boy. Is Schwank ok? Will she go back to Rocking Trick?

How exciting for you, Madelyn! As for a name, you could combine the "Rock" from the sire and the "Creek" from the broodmare sire and call him "Rocky Creek".
