She looks like she might be a good addition as a broodmare, nice pedigree. However, there seems to be a question regarding her sire. Pedigree states Pulpit, but the footnote states equibase reports Purge as her sire. Is there anyway to find out which is her sire?

I doubt this horse is the "sweetheart" that they say. The only time a horse needs a chain through their mouth is if they are vicious, studdy, crazy, or as hot as hell.
I have never had a racehorse that needed a chain in their mouth....espcially a filly.
That's out of 6 racehorses we have owned and raced.
I'm skeptical but whatever. Just don't want someone without experience to adopt her and get hurt.....

I take a LOT of pics of horses for sale on the backside. When getting pics it is essential that the horse be still and keep their legs underneath their bodies to get a decent sales pic that can show the horse to its best advantage. I will often ask the groom/holder to put a chain in their mouths if the horse to be photographed is any of the following: nervous, feel good, antsy, herd/barn bound, or fidgety. I try to never use a lip chain because of the negative connotations associated with a lip chain (just as the chain in this filly's mouth elicited negative comments). Sales yearlings and most other sales horses are brought through the ring with a chifney bit for this exact reason - it allows a little more control without resorting to the lip chain.
To Skipitgirl-
Then I'd get a new trainer/groom....if one of my racehorses was ever mouth chained just for the hell of hell than they wouldn't have my horse for long. I have raced at Saratoga, Belmont, Aqueduct, Monmouth, Churchill, Tampa, Penn, Suffolk, and Philly and not once have I ever had a horse of mine mouth chained....maybe a chain over nose but never mouth chained.
Jessi, big difference between a chifney bit and being mouth chained. Why not just take horse to a location where they are more comfortable. If they still act up than I would venture they are crazy, hot, vicious, or studdy.......
It's my two cents on this horse as I don't know her. But, I would encourage anyone interested in adopting any horse to try to observe a horse in several situations before taking them home. You can learn a lot from approaching their stall, watching them groomed/bathed/bandaged/tacked up/hand walked/fed etc. A lot of rescue groups such as CANTER will accompany a serious buyer to backside.......never buy a horse cold turkey without watching them being handled!
