The description for the mare does say she's headed that way on Monday.

MINA SHARPE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT YOU SINCE MARCH REGARDING YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO THE QTR HORSE YOU RESCUED.. OLIVER.. REMEMBER HIM??? YOU MADE A COMMITTMENT TO ME AND TO HIM THAT YOU WOULD ALWAYS PLAY AN ACTIVE ROLE IN HIS CARE AND WELL-BEING. BASED ON THAT PROMISE I ADOPTED HIM FROM YOU AND GAVE HIM A GOOD HOME ON 8/29/05.

YOU HAVE IGNORED MY PHONE CALLS, MY EMAILS AND MY MOST RECENT EMAIL SENT TO YOU ONLY LAST WEEK!!! WHEN YOU PLACED AN ADD FOR HIM ON YOUR WEBSITE www.geocities.com/t-aarf/o.html YOU STATED THAT HIS VET CARE FOR HIS LEGS WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. THAT IS NOT TRUE!!

I HAVE SPENT OVER $2000.00 THIS PAST YEAR ON HIS SHOEING, MEDS, SUPPLEMENTS, ON-GOING EVALUATIONS FOR HIS INCREASING LAMENESS. AS I SAID IN MY EMAIL LAST WEEK, HE DESPERATELY NEEDS HIS TEETH FLOATED, THE POOR BOY CAN HARDLY EAT AND HIS LOOSING WEIGHT.

AS YOU KNOW I AM ON PERMANENT DISABILITY AND AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE SURGERY ON MY NECK AND BOTH MY HIPS VERY SOON. I HAVE BEEN PUTTING THIS OFF BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CARE FOR HIM IF I HAVE THESE SURGERIES.

YOU HAVE GIVEN ME NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU VIA THIS POST. YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN OFFERING TO TAKE ON ANY OTHER HORSES WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETELY NEGLECTED TO TAKE CARE OF OLIVER.

I AM ALSO EXTREMELY ANNOYED THAT YOU TAKE CREDIT FOR RESCUEING HIM BY POSTING THAT INFORMATION ON HERE AND OTHER SITES WHEN YOU HAVE NOT EVEN SEEN HIM OR ENQUIRED ABOUT HIM SINCE JANUARY THIS YEAR!!! HOW CAN YOU BRAG ABOUT SAVING THIS HORSE WHEN YOU HAVE FAILED IN YOUR PROMISE TO ALWAYS BE THERE FOR HIM.

I NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU BEFORE THE END OF THIS WEEK. DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE NOT FULLFILLED YOUR COMMITTMENT IN HELPING ME WITH THE ONGOING ISSUES WITH HIS LEGS AND AS A RESULT I AM IN ALOT OF DEBT, HAVE LOST MY HOME OF 10 YEARS, I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO INSIST THAT YOU TAKE HIM BACK. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO OFFER HOMES TO OTHER 'TRAINWRECKS' (your choice of words not mine) THEN YOU ARE IN A POSITION TO TAKE OLIVER. HE SHOULD BE YOUR MAIN CONCERN ABOVE ANY OTHER ANIMALS RIGHT NOW!

IT BREAKS MY HEART TO HAVE TO PART WITH HIM, BUT IT IS NOT ABOUT ME.. IT IS ABOUT WHAT IS BEST FOR HIM... YOU SAVED HIS LIFE AND UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO BE PART OF HIS ONGOING REHAB WHICH AS YOU KNOW IS LIFE LONG, THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT???? YOU ARE THE VET TECH WITH THE EXPERIENCE AND THE CONTACTS AND THEREFORE YOU ARE THE ONE HE SHOULD BE WITH.

LASTLY, YOU WROTE IN AN EMAIL WHEN I ADOPTED HIM THAT IF THERE WAS ANY SITUATION WHERE HE MAY HAVE TO BE PUT DOWN TO LET YOU KNOW... WELL IF THERE WAS ANY A TIME... THAT TIME IS NOW... IT IS MUCH KINDER TO HIM THAN FOR HIM TO BE IN CONSTANT PAIN WITHOUT GETTING THE PROPER HELP AND CARE HE SO DESPERATELY NEEDS.

MY PHONE NUMBERS ARE 714 374 6296 CELL 714 651 6068

I EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU VERY SOON!!

I hate to be a party pooper but sometimes these rescues go to far. This is a 2 YEAR OLD who will never be sound for anything and will need constant care. Sometimes it is better to just let them go over the Rainbow Bridge in peace then let them hobble around for the next 20 years.

Skipitgirl, you hit the nail on the head. Not only that but apparently some kind-hearted soul got "sucked in" , caught up with one of those those greater-glory types while the animal suffers. That colt should be put down NOW.

I don't mean to be harsh, but obviously a lot of money is being spent on this one horse. Imagine all the healthy and sound horses you could save with that budget.

The gelding is very sweet and works hard to be happy. But without the proper care, he is doomed to live in pain. The adoptee's financial situation and available facilities have changed immensely since she adopted this horse. She loves him and is a good person.

From what I have read on the NET about the person who TALKED many into being involved with helping this horse, AND who is now seeking the horse DANCING WARRIOR to adopt as a "pet", while also offering to take in others, seems to have an obsessive need to rescue, but very little follow-thru, AT LEAST in this case.

Follow-thru and follow up, regarding RESCUES is IMMENSELY IMPORTANT, otherwise you are just saving them for them to end up in yet another neglectful or painful life situation. Very irresponsible of this person. I might also add that it is my opinion that promising to be there to help, in order to CONVINCE someone it is safe to adopt a horse such as Oliver, and then failing to honor those promises, amounts to fraud. Most especially when she has had so many chances to FIX and respond to the situation.

OLIVER

Postby djones612000 » Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:48 pm

Thanks to all for your responses. Although sad, I do agree with all of you, and think I indicate that in my post. I am still waiting to hear from the intended reader.

Just an FYI.. Oliver is now going on 6yrs old and is a gelding. He was rescued in Dec 2004 as a 2 yr old colt. I adopted him last August.

When I get a minute I will post some photos of him.

Thanks again
Deborah
