Thallene Mist Mare Offered-

Postby Marli » Tue Jul 24, 2007 8:59 am

Figured it wouldn't hurt to get this mare exposed here in case anyone might be interested. She's currently offered for sale through the Broker and her info and pictures can be seen here-

http://www.ac4h.com/

Scroll down til' you reach the 'Broker Owned Horses' section, click on that title. Once directed click on Page 2 and scroll down a bit. She is listed by name with pictures and pedigree info (also registered w/the AWS). According the paperwork the broker received when he bought her, there is also a baby for sale out of this mare. The mare is sound and was sold due to the previous owners loss of employment. She's listed at $750.00. Possibility that she will be 'at-risk' if not sold. Inquiries to: [email protected]

Direct Link to this mares info-

Here is her pedigree as well-

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like this mares dam and 1/2 sibling are both stakes placed. This mare is also registered with AWS.

Edited to correct, not stakes winners but stakes placed.

She is also a stakes producer:

Thank you Arctic Cielo and Madelyn for providing that additional info.

She needs a home immediately otherwise she is at risk of shipping to slaughter, thus my reason for posting her here in the event some interest could be generated to provide an opportunity of a home. Regardless of her age, she has produced and I believe from the pictured document, recently (states her baby is for sale also).

Thank you!

Please only post the facts. There are no babies for quick sale. Any foals bred by me (only one by Misty) are safe and happy.
Misty's story for those who are interested is posted on our web site www.twinlightsfarm.com also on the testimonials page on the NEER web site.
Christy at www.ac4h.com and Beth of NEER, www.NewEnglandEquineRescues.com
were the ones who did all the real work to save Misty. But I do also want to than my friends and family who donated, the wonderful people who donated from the www.equichat.com and www.equinesite.com bulletin board. We raised all the money to get Misty, transport her back to MA and get her coggins and health cert.
She will be heading back to MA, to be fostered here at our farm, on Monday. She will be up for adoption through NEER.
Please, donate, foster and adopt rescues. Thank you.

Twinlights,

Could you clarify as to what comment in this discussion you're referencing? ('only post the facts'/'no babies for quick sale'). I didn't see that written in any of the commentary.

As to the original post by me, it was done so after consulting w/Christy as it was felt that the more exposure this mare received the more there may be a possibility that someone would be interested in her. Thanks to both Arctic Cielo and Madelyn for pointing out her pedigree info (to the credit of the mare). At 18 y/o, there aren't many avenues for a mare unless she is ridable AND breeding sound (in the event someone was interested in her for breeding purposes- I am not an advocate of breeding but there are exceptions when a horse has a it's 'back against a wall' so to speak).

The details of this mare were given to me by Christy, after her initial visit to see the mare and speak w/the broker (the report was per the brokers details that were conveyed to him by the previous owner). That's all any of us had to go on. And, as you can clearly see in this picture-

http://www.ac4h.com/7-22-07bohorses%20049.jpg

The lime green paper in the lower left corner, 4th sentence from the bottom describes this- "Has a Reg. baby for sale, call 978-270-3338 - see paperwork". Again, the addition of mentioning any baby for sale was done so to stimulate any interest in this mare as this would be indicative of recent breeding, regardless of this mares age of 18.

I am hoping that your hostility was not directed at my post or description here on this forum. I have been directly involved in the rescue of MANY, MANY horses for a good 15+ years. Just inquire w/Christy at AC4H, Beth of NEER, Kelly from Lost & Found as the majority of rescues know exactly who I am and my dedication to saving the lives of horses (with a heavy lean towards ottbs). I am not a non-profit myself, but spend all my time, 7 days a week, 365 days a year actively involved in the rescue or transitioning of horses out of 'at-risk' situations (auctions/sales/killpens/dealers & brokers/off backsides of tracks).

I read your updated informational page for this mare on your website, and clearly, you gave this mare away to another party to what you thought would be a good secure home (I suspect the party that sold her to this dealer- though I may be wrong). Unfortunately, for this mare, she nearly paid with her life. Perhaps, if in the future, and just as a suggestion- you have any concerns where any formerly owned horses may go or be placed, you do so with something in writing and with references (again, just a suggestion). I was thrilled to hear that this mare and her circumstances were resolved, and with a positive outcome. And I commend you for stepping forward to ensure her safety, as in all fairness, it was not something you had to do. Thank you.

I am sorry, it may have been on another forum. I have just been trying to put out the correct info. That is all. Lots of incorrect info out there. Sorry if it wasn't this one.
I realise it says that on the green card, no idea why it would be there or who wrote it. Her colt is for sale, but I am in no means in a hurry to dump him. That is all I meant by that. I am sorry if it came out wrong.
I know in your post you were just trying to get the word out and help and for that I thank you. I thank anyone who tried to or did help.
Its just been a long and horrible week. I am just glad she is now safe and coming home. I am stressed and edgy and trying to put out the fires where I can.
Sorry again!

Oh, and I did call and confront the person I gave her to about this. From what I gather she does this sort of thing all the time. I wish I had known it never would have happened. She did take the mare to the auction, not long after she got her. I have no idea how many times she has moved since, it is very scarey.
I don't sell that many. And until this one, I know where every one is and how they are. Again, I am just greatful that I was able to do something to right a wrong. I made a very bad judge of character, and Misty has paid for it. I couldn't just turn my back on her, I am not that way. It would have been a lot easier to stick my head in the sand and wait til it all went away, but I didn't and for that I am glad and would do it again. But it has been a rough road and people are merciless.
So, once again I appologise if I came off the wrong way. I do thank you!

I don't feel comfortable giving that out not sure about slander laws. Unfortunatly its her word against mine. I wish I had put things in writing, believe me next time I will. But, I will say someone else brought up her name on the NEER's (www.newenglandequinerescues.com) yahoo group messages which you can get to from their site I believe. Messages under ac4h Misty heading.
And I totally agree with you she is a low life and will not be stepping foot on our property again!
I hope you do except my appology. I went back and read the thread again, and I was obviously wrong. It wasn't this forum. Somewhere out there there is a forum that I had found that it was stated that way. I have gotten sooooo many e-mails, only a few good ones, and it is wearing on my nerves. But I am very greatful to the "Darcy" who contacted me through my dreamhorse.com ad for Vallie (Misty's colt) who was the first to notify me of Misty's situation. And all others who were trying to help not just accuse.

Apology accepted Twinlights, and you'll be glad to know that I was also a part of her rescue in the effect that Christy always tells me of TB's, as they're my 'specialty'. I told her that absolutely no way should this mare get trucked off, and from there it became a mission. The internet has become a great tool and resource in many positive ways, however, it can also be used as a method to hurt.

It sounds like you've had a very trying week emotionally. I'm a bottom line kind of person, and to that effect, the mare is safe and you were a part of it. Grab a cool drink, shrug off the naysayers, and relax- Misty's gonna be heading North again soon and will have a lifetime of protection in her future!

Thank you! She is a gorgeous mare. Absolutly nothing wrong with her, just an older mare with no training. But if you saw her in person there, and you saw her photos on my web site, can warn me or tell me if I am going to be in shock when she comes off that trailer? She will be arriving here on Tuesday I believe.

I haven't seen her in person but I can tell you the effects of being 'shuffled' are very stressful to TB's, in particular. Typically, there is some weight loss, perhaps some dehydration, usually some cuts or scrapes go with the territory too.

Hopefully, she's okay and not any worse for the wear- and usually nothing that some good TLC won't take care of. Reassurance of security is also a factor. Some may say I'm crazy, but being involved in rescue I have come to recognize just how much they really do 'have feelings'.
