Distinctive Trick Philly Park Stakes Winner Needs Home

Postby cmccarthy9 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 1:42 pm

I was at Philadelphia Park this morning and was approached by an owner/trainer pleading for my help! They have a 6 year old stallion that is totally shot as a racehorse! His knees are completley gone and he can no longer run!

They are looking to find a home for him as they are paranoid his is going to end up at New Holland because that had happened to a horse they gave away in the past. It went to a good home- free- and when the guy couldn't keep it sent it to New Holland where it was pulled out of the slaughter pen. So, they are afraid this horse might have the same fate!

The horse they are trying to find a home for is Distinctive Trick. He is by Distinctive Pro by Doyourthing by Known Fact.

He has 30 Starts: 4 - 2 - 3, $194,811

At 2: 3rd Great White Way S.(Aq-R,6F)

At 3: 1st Fred "Cappy" Cappesella S.(Aq,6F), Sonny Hine S. (L,6f), 2nd Horatius S.(Lrl,6F)

He ran in the Gotham Stakes too...

He stands almost 16.3 hands, is dark brown with a big white blaze- He is beautiful!

Here are a couple links to articles on him...

Anyway, he has made his way to the bottom ranks running for $5000 and he just cannot compete anymore, so they want to make sure he gets a good home!

If anyone has any ideas please let me know because this is going to be a hard placement since he is basically only pasture sound and is still a stud!

Thanks a bunch!!

Is he breeding sound? You see so many horses with lesser accomplishments and pedigrees get a chance at stud.

And while this guy may not have the most amazing record or fashionable pedigree, I do believe his dam is a half-sister to Majesty's Imp who was a decent stallion from limited opportunity. I remember most that made it to the track paid for themselves.

It's a real consistent type of family behind them and they run.

Might just be another avenue you want to pursue while trying to find this guy a home.

Oh he Defintley is breeding sound and I know that the owners would LOVE to see him bred! But they want a good home for him! That is their main concern!

Of course they are desperate to place him now that they have injected his knees forever and crippled him just to keep trying to get a check. They only give up when the poor horse is too crippled for drugs (legal and not) to keep him running. That is just abuse, plain and simple. He should have been retired long before he became only pasture sound. Shame on them!!

Karie
The trailer is revved and but no word yet....if he does come here, I am serious about test breeding for the rest of the season.
The one thing that intrigues me about him is that in 37 starts he had the same owner/trainer.
