Thistledown - 2 geldings

Postby KamiBrooks » Tue Jun 10, 2008 9:42 pm

2 geldings at Thistledown (Ohio) are needing homes as riding horses. The trainer says they have too many issues for racing and he doesn't want to put the horses or jockeys at risk. I need to confirm the price, but it will not be much. Both are at the track (Thistledown, Clevland, OH)

Sterling Gold is a 9yo bay, a stakes winner of over $500k who has earned a good retirement. Recommended for flat work. His pedigree is at: http://www.pedigreequery.com/sterling+gold

Out of View is a 5yo bay, Montbrook (Buckpasser line) horse who has potential to do minor jumping, but not recommended for extensive jumping. His pedigree is at: http://www.pedigreequery.com/out+of+view

I'm supposed to tranport horses to that area for CANTER OHIO and will swing by and get pictures and more complete details. But both of these horses are in training now and said to be sound to become riding horses.

Here are photos of Sterling Gold who's time is running short. http://www.usho.org/Sterling.html. We're trying to raise funds to get his fetlock examined so we can find him the right home.

This poor guy is frustrating. He's won over a half million for his connections and we're struggling to raise $200 to get vet exam... grrrrr....

It FLOORS me that this gelding won $500,000 for his connecctions and cant even be given the courtesy of a retirement home from at least one of them!

Sterling Gold unfortunately has had so many owners it would be hard to find ONE with any cash left out of the $500K.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

I haven't pulled his PP, does anyone know how many starts he had or have his PP? I'd be interested in seeing it. You can send it to [email protected]

I know, the sad thing is that when they're ready to retire they are probably with the owners who are least able to retire them. We're working on getting him a place to land. We need to x-ray to see if he'd qualify for new vocations... if not, we're working on a retirement backup.

Okay, wow... I looked at his PP (thanks to the person who sent it) Here's my updated blurb... not only did he run, but he competed HARD for his entire career.

Sterling is a 9yo stakes winner of over $500,000 who's ready to retire from the track. This Mutakddim gelding broke his maiden at Churchill Down in a Maiden Special Weight and was a 2002 Triple Crown nominated horse. He went on to win 13 of 58 career starts and was in the money for 33 of those starts. He has started in over 10 stakes or handicap races and his last race in Feb 07 was a $50,000 claimer.

AND now he's sitting at Thistledown?!? I have to give the trainer credit for NOT running him.

Sterling is going to have vet exam by Dr Genovese on Wed to determine exactly what's going on with his ankle.

He's also now available as a foster horse to any home that can transition him to being a trail horse that is within 3-4hrs of our zip 44492. If anyone is willing to help transition this boy (assuming vet exam says its feasible).

Thank you to the people on this board who've helped him out!
