TB Mare - Companion/Broodmare - Giveaway (WV)

Postby starlitlaughter » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:44 am

I am trying to find a home for "Replete", my unraced 1991 JC-registered Thoroughbred mare. She is bay, 16.2 hands, and has excellent conformation and clean legs. I have owned Replete since 1997, and while she is sound and healthy, I am offering her as a companion only, though she may be able to be bred, but I would suggest having her evaluated by a reproduction specialist due to her age and length between foals (she had colts in 1994 and 2000). She is pasture kept, but will stall just fine, and maintains on a diet of good mixed hay. She looks more like 10 than a coming 20 year old mare. She is up to date on vaccinations, coggins, and farrier work. Replete has been barefoot, with no issues, for over a decade. She stands for the vet/farrir and loves to be groomed. Good to handle, but like any thoroughbred can get excited. No vices - no bite/kick.

Replete has an excellent "old" pedigree, and is completely free of Native Dancer blood. She is by Rollicking out of Foppish by Mitey Prince. Rollicking was a stakes horse and led the sires list in Maryland several times before his death in the early 90s. I believe Replete is one of the last Rollicking babies left.

She is being offered at no fault of her own, and I will include her Rambo Wug heavy turnout blanket with her that is only a couple seasons old. My financial circumstances have changed, and with my parents recent divorce and liquidation of the small farm, I no longer have a place to keep her or a means to take care of her. She must find a new home very soon, or I am going to have to face other alternatives.

She is located near Martinsburg, WV (about 1.5 hours west of Washington DC). I can arrange for transportation within a few hours of my home. I will ask for references, as I want to ensure that if she does leave me that she will be well taken care of.

Agreeing with LB and also, if someone is interested in her as a potential broodmare & would want to do the breeding soundness exam, she IS a full sister to Grand Rol, who is multiple graded stakes-placed (2nd Miller High Life Cradle Stakes G3; 3rd Laurel Futurity G1) and had 94 starts.

Thank you all for your nice comments. She really is a nice mare - good natured and friendly, but still has a good bit of fire in her. Always been the alpha in my herd. She's a great mom too - couldn't ask for a better one.

she IS a full sister to Grand Rol, who is multiple graded stakes-placed (2nd Miller High Life Cradle Stakes G3; 3rd Laurel Futurity G1) and had 94 starts.

Thanks KB, I forgot to mention that. Her dam is also a full sister to Sharks Jaws, who was a three time stakes winner who won 11 of 25 starts.

Rollicking: if I remember correctly a nice source of speed?

Yes, I do believe so. If I remember correctly, Rollicking ran from 5-9 furlongs, but his offspring had a quick turn of foot. Of course, I'm going off of what I have read and researched - I'm not old enough to remember Rollicking's racing days or those of offspring.

She may still have a foal in her. She is a nice outcross to 99% of the stallions out there. I think Rollicking liked Mr. Prospector...
