Untuttable seems to have a high percentage of winner from runners.

Someone needs to post Untuttable on the wall of the Color Breeders forum to show them that a horse can be 2 x 4 and successful. A few weeks ago someone actually called the Jockey Club to complain that a different color breeder's horse was too inbred, when it was something like 3 x 3.

Yes, Laurie that was my reaction as well. Here is the thread http://www.pedigreequery.com/forum/view ... hp?t=29096

And the "too inbred" horse http://www.pedigreequery.com/preakness+of+gold

Might not be 'fashionable' but certainly not unheard of. I have seen daughters bred back to their own sires before unfortunately I couldn't recall any names for examples.

Don't twist what I said JeesP. I called the JC for clarification of a current pedigee and one similar to it in 2009.
Both times the JC said both foals were "strongly" inbred, and they highly don't recommend breeding that closely.
Why would the JC lie to me 2 years in a row JessP?

My opinion and several others, are that the foals are inbred.
I wonder what the statistics are for inbred or closely line bred TB's
winning compared to how many are slaughtered each year JessP?
Do you have those figures as well?

What else would you expect the JC to say? It is inbreeding--anyone who understand pedigrees could have confirmed that for you. But it isn't the JC's job to mandate breeding practices (except LC) Who said they were lying about anything?

LB there just seems to be a great divide between those who like the products of inbreeding versus those who don't.

A tiny vote on CC says 80% don't like/choose to inbreed.

JC says there are reasons for not inbreedig.
Two different JC employees stated to me, a small beeder, two years in a row, not to do it.

I know 99% of folks here don't care about color breeders attempting to
run color, so they can win. But the fact is there are only two palomino
lines in TB's, and it is difficult to not to inbreed them, but with patience and time is very possible.

Carolyn I twisted nothing that you said and even provided a link so people could go read your words for themselves.

ALL of todays TBs descend from one of 3 foundations sires. Can you not understand that the breed as a whole by its very definition (descending from one of 3 sires) is inbred to varying degrees, and that in todays parlance a 3 x 3 breeding is hardly the train wreck you predict it to be.

Your correlation between inbreeding and slaughtered horses holds no relevance to this discussion whatsoever. I don't have those figures and neither do you - because they dont exist - and all you can do is speculate. Not one of us here believes that the Jockey Club would have said what you claim because we know the organization, the people and its purpose. However its quite obvious you will go to your grave claiming that "SOMEONE at the JC told me thats TOO INBRED" as the holy truth. We know better, but Carolyn if it makes you feel better to keeping saying so well go right ahead and ride that horse to the end of the line.

Before you get started slinging mud think about your reputation and recognize that we respect facts ONLY here, not innuendo nor supplication. Resist the urge to revert to barn yard theatrics and people might listen to what you have to say. Look at the horse in the above example, more inbred than you would ever dream to be acceptable, and he is (drum roll) a successful racehorse AND sire. As a stallion owner who wants to improve their stock I would think you would want to take notice of what is working in the breed and discipline that you are breeding for. Untuttable is an excellent example of successful 2 x 4 breeding and he is passing along his genes with productive runners and a high % of winners from starters.

One small survey of 20 people, mostly your "friends" in the color breeding world is hardly a basis for fact - the scope is far too limited and your survey sample on this board is skewed against that particular breeder to begin with.

LB Carolyn (Reedholl) thinks that we are saying the Jockey Club was lying to her when "SOMEONE" there told her that one of her competitors horses was too inbred and that they frowned upon that particular breeding decision.

My belief is that the JC is a recording organization, not a judging one, and I am hard pressed to believe an employee of the JC would tell a breeder who is obviously new to the breed that a competitors horse was too ANYTHING let alone too inbred at 3S x 3D 3S x 3D. I personally dont believe the Jockey Club would offer an opinion one way or the other - thats not their job. Their job is to record pedigrees, not judge them.

Yes you did twist words.

Just because there were say 3 founding fathers does not mean people have to continue to inbreed now, there are too many other choices.

To clarify, you are saying specifically (inbred and closely line bred) horses that breakdown by the hundreds and go to slaughter every year don't exist because you don't know their names?
I bet every breeder and trainer that sold them to slaughter knows their names..........or let me guess, no one does that?

Ok, I will call tomorrow and ask for names of who I spoke with, since you also assume to know the majority of responses of the entire JC staff, when you are not on the phone with them and myself at the time of the discussion.............Hummm

Who is slinging mud? This forum is for stating facts, and finding the facts,
which is exactly why I brought this topic up. I have stated multiple times what I have been told or read. Are you sayig this is not allowed anymore?

As for my reputation you seem to think is on th chopping block, the people that matter to us, know we do not put up with bull or bullies JessP. RHF will never inbreed an animal for the hopes of earning a dollar, contrary to what you seem to glorify.

IF that breeder has a bad reputation only they know that. As for a small poll, yes it was, and it's too bad it wasn't posted under a bigger topic, or left open so people could continue to vote. I had people emal me that didn't vote because they were afraid their name/call sign would be posted with the way they voted. I for one don't care who knows how I voted. I told the peope that emailed it is anonymus and that they wou not be culled to the side for voting a certain way........now I wonder.
