Interesting mare on CANTER Indiana: 1/2 to Smarty Jones??!!

Postby ak1 » Thu Dec 08, 2005 4:39 pm

Here is the listing. Mare is not in database, can anyone confirm that she is indeed a half to Smarty? If she is, I am surprised to find her listed on CANTER. Perhaps a bargain for some of you looking to add to your broodmare band???

0059-11 Barbe's Dream: New Price!! Barbe’s (pronounced Barbie’s) Dream is a 3 year old petite filly. She is solid dark bay with no markings and stands at 15.1. She is believed sound for any discipline and with her petite size would make lovely mount as a polo pony or pony club project. Barbe is a half sister to Smarty Jones but lacks his talent on the racetrack and is looking for a new career. She can be seen in Columbus, Indiana after the meet ends (Nov. 25). Asking price $2000; negotiable to the right home

It looks like she is in the database and they have her name spelled wrong on the listing (at least this would be my guess).

Looks like they have the same sire.

She is by Elusive Quality, the sire of Smarty Jones, but she is not a true "1/2 sister" to the classic winner.

I got this wrong -
She is out of a 1/2 sister to a restricted stakes winner Reblin and to the dam of stakes placed Confirmed Flight. Her second dam is College Bold, dam of G1 winner Nasty And Bold, G2 winner Told and stakes winners Pembroke and Boldara.

thanks for the info! she is nicely bred. given she is only 3, perhaps she might grow just a smidge more? hope she finds a good home with someone. too bad my backyard is way too small for a breeding operation :(

Perhaps if you were selling her directly... but a small sized mare doesn't always mean she'll throw small foals... so I think someone should take a chance! :D

Besides the info you provided, her tail-female line traces directly to LaTroienne... not too shabby!

That can't be right. Reblin is out of Confirmation Class who, on my '03 APR, shows a 2002 colt by Skywalker.

This filly's dam is Bucktooth, a 1/2 to Reblin. Her granddam is Confirmation Class.
