TB mare in OH...nice mover...~$600
Hi everyone I try to find homes for auction/slaughter bound horses including many Thoroughbreds. At a freezing cold auction last night a beautiful bay mare came into the sale ring..she didn't do anything wrong..she had papers she moved beautifuly and a dealer got her for around $500. She wasn't ridden in the sales ring but she moved soundly. I searched down the guy after the sale and talked to him..he is bringing her to Lancaster OH (his home) and then most likely to another auction next Friday at Sugarcreek OH..the notorious slaughterhorse auction. If anyone knows anyone who would want this gorgeous mare here is all I know about her: 10? years old, bay with white star, 17 hands (estimated) but I heard today when I called the dealer back that she is not easy to load on a trailer and is best when sedated. This mare would make an excellant dressage prospect. She is perfectly proportioned. There are more being shipped to the sugarcreek auction but they are not TBs. One is a sweet paint mare with a slight limp..trail ridden...dealer got for $260 and an adorable adorable large pony..chesnut with white blaze and socks..broke to ride..7 years old..I really hate to see any of these guys go to another auction or slaughter....if anyone even wants to buy one "try" it out I may able to purchase (no stall space right now) next year. So these horses are currently in Lancaster. The pony he would probably sell for $450. I was told that $600 would probably buy the mare from the dealer's friend. The paint I'm sure he would take less. The owner of the paint horse said that the horse was sound when he put her in the trailer that morning..she acted like she had a rock in her shoe or an abcess, from what I could tell. If anyone needs to contact me please e-mail at [email protected] or 859-396-4414 cell. Thanks. Jennifer

Mare/trailering
I wasn't there when they loaded the horse into the trailer...but she is a big horse and I was wondering if they had a regular sized trailer and were trying to cram her into it...plus you have to consider that they ship these horses side by side a lot of times in stock trailers...between the two dealers they brought home 18 horses last night..so she may not be that bad in a trailer sized for her...just my few cents worth...Jen

The pony has found a home, I just talked to the dealer. He is going to call me back with the bloodlines for the TB mare.

If the big mare has JC papers, it might help if you can find out what her name is and post it.
oops, guess we were posting at the same time....Hope you can get more specifics

Mares Pedigree
Phew....think I just pulled a few teeth!! OK people....got the pedigree! Her name is Mint Dance...she was born in 95...10 years old. Her dam is Dancin at the Mint and her sire is Buckaroo. Some lady is supposedly interested in this mare (not thru me but thru the dealer) and said she would buy this mare for $700 at Sugarcreek, before she goes thru the ring on Friday...I don't know if this is a ploy by the dealer or if it is true...dealer said whoever shows up with the money before Friday can have her..after Friday he said shes getting loaded up for the sale. Good news on the paint...because she has such a laid back personality and rides well they are going to put shoes on and work with her more. She is registered..her lameness was a sole bruise...she is getting shoes put on tomorrow. I guess my hard praying must have worked...or maybe its just luck. The dealers wife said that the TB mare seems sweet and comes up to you in the pasture...this is how she was at the sale..she seemed really sweet. Anyone interested please e-mail me. Thanks!

Mare
She also won a race on September 1, 1998 race 2 at either Thistledowns or River Downs..the results had the Thistle/River combo sign.

Looks like a pretty nice mare for the money, if the database is accurate.
MINT DANCE F, 1995 DP = 12-13-24-4-1 (54) DI = 2.18 CD = 0.57 - GSV = 77.58
Nice breeding. She's from the female family of millionaire HAWK WING , Canadian Champion LA LORGNETTE, Canadian Horse of the Year and Champion Turf Male THORNFIELD, and several other SW and SP horses. Her dam is half to a SW and two SP horses. The broodmare sires of the first three dams are Key To The Mint, Damascus and Nijinsky. Her fourth dam was a 2YO and 3YO Champion in Argentina.
She also has strong female influences through Busanda and Blue Banner, dam of 1980 Broodmare of the Year Key Bridge. Both mares were sired by War Admiral out of daughters of Blue Larkspur.
