I lost my 15 year old son of Grey Dawn II (Tomorrow's Comet) over the weekend and he was a huge part of my breeding program...as well as a good friend.
I have to try to keep the program going so any leads on a son of GD would be very appreciated. I have a call in to the owner of Dawn Quixote but no return call yet.
If you have an old (or younger) GD son out there and want a good permanent home, please contact me. He has to be able to do live cover since I breed TBs.
Thanks, Laura

I thought that Tap the Mint was deceased but maybe I am misinformed.
As far as Redoubtable is concerned...it would surprise me if I could get him into the US in time for the breeding season...especially if he has covered any mares. I looked into importing him when he was still racing, but the owner/trainer and I could not come to a meeting of the minds.
Glad he's out there and actually a stud I wondered if he was ever going to stop running him until he broke down.
Thanks for the info...and I'll check on Tap the Mint. And scope out Redoubtable's status...what a hard knocking little fellow he is.
Thanks:

Big Spruce Son
Thanks for the heads up on this stallion...but he is a son of Big Spruce...and I don't think using him would accomplish what I'm trying to do with my program. He's also huge according to the website...didn't see a photo but I imagine that he might be great looking if he looks like his sire but in "grey flannel". Personally (as bizarre as it may sound coming from a Grey Dawn lover) I don't like grey and would prefer a non grey stud...of course if he were an own son of Grey Dawn he could be any color and I would be interested as the pedigree would out weigh the color.
Thanks again. L.

I thought that she had 2 studs - I inquired about them - one is by big spruce and the other one is by gray dawn II - we talked about his confirmation ect - she might have sold the other horse as it was a couple of months ago that i talked with her about him

Big Spruce/Waquoit Et Cetera
I have a son of Big Spruce out of a stakes producing Gleaming mare...he's small (under 15 hands at 10 years old)...and I have used him for a few years for my Herbager inbreeding program. So far he has not produced the turn of foot so necessary to the racing industry but his daughters will stay in my program for hybrid outcrosses on speed to see how their produce runs. Have been contemplating sending him into a sport pony breeding program back east where I could still use him occasionally if I wanted to. He wouldn't have to work as hard...every mare on the place is much taller than he is.
I do have a couple of young stallions I can consider using if I can't find a son of GD or a son of son (one is 2X4 Grey Dawn and the other is 2X2X4 Herbager with Grey Dawn 3 back). I'd prefer to wait and use them in a year or two.
Thanks for the ideas...there's a son on Vigors in IL I'll inquire about today. L.

Pagosa Springs
I'm on the eastern slope but I have a friend in Pagosa Springs...she purchased a daughter of Motrill (Herbager ex Red Damask) from me and the mare is in foal to Tomorrow's Comet

Thanks for the heads up...I also need to call about Suddenly Rich. Couldn't find any advertised sons of any other GD sons. Too bad there are no Delegants or Jaques Whos sons to look at as well...but Vigors was quite nice.

Searching for a Son of Grey Dawn II to BUY or LEASE
I posted on one of the other forums on this subject. I am so very sorry to hear that you lost your son of Grey Dawn II. I am sorry for you and sorry to hear of the passing of another one from this great line. This is also a big part of my breeding program and yes, I did have a son of Grey Dawn, Tap The Mint, who passed away and is dearly missed. I did keep a couple of his sons and would consider selling one of them to the right breeding home. Contact me if you are interested. You can see him on my website at www.oakwoodfarmtb.com. His name is Tap The Till.
