Not much posting on this board lately, so I thought I would mention Titan of Industry, a son of Giant's Causeway running tomorrow, Tuesday 1, July in the Stanton Stakes (55K) on the grass at Delaware. Raj Maragh comes in to ride him and he looks very good here, and for all of you punters who care, he might go off at more than 3-1.

I agree that Deal Maker looks really good, he is 2 for 2 on the lawn and not only is he by Empire Maker, his bottom side is grass with class. He gets Ramon Dominguez, leading rider, and while I am not backing off Titan of Industry, an exacta probably is in order here. Im just thinking that if Deal Maker is not the real deal Titan of Industry has faced some pretty good turf runners. We will know more after the race, too bad not before.....

Deal Maker won at 2-1 paid $6.00, I sure am glad I got on him, thanks Bill, you made me look again. This horse is now 3 for 3 and just might be something special on the turf...

DDT,
I'm just curious, do you know who came in second and third?

Hi DDT
Deal Making just might be something very special. He broke in the air, but Dominguez, being the consumate pro that he is, let him settle into stride, and then made a strong move in the stretch to win going away. Titan of Industry (bet down to favorite) was the victim of some bad racing luck, got trapped between horses, and couldn't ever get rolling. I would toss this race, and give him a good look if he runs back in a similar spot (might get a better price next time).
Glad you got on the winner.

Well, when you bet $200.00 at 2-1 it makes the day worth it, of course the horse has to win.......
I love the female family on this horse and he showed today that even with a little trouble he is for real. Thanks again for making me look again.

Knight in Armour is pretty interesting to be in with this bunch -- $3500 stud fee out of a Piccolino mare.

I sure wish I had done a little family research on Knight in Armour, he has a half brother sired by Storm Broker, a son of Storm Cat just like Lion Hearted. The dam has a couple of nice sisters, and it looks like this guy has a ton of heart.

DDT, I like to call that "pattern breeding." The mare worked with Storm Broker - and produced Evil Storm - so following that pattern they bred her to Lion Hearted. It is another example of Fappiano/Storm Cat. Knight in Armour sure beefed up the trifecta. That kind of horse is proof there is hope for small breeders with small pockets that pay attention to pedigrees and patterns.

I agree with the pattern breeding but I place a lot of importance on the individual mare involved. As you said, there does appear to be a nick with Fappiano/Storm Cat, but I think the mares involved in the nick play a very important role. As we all know, there are many more failures than home runs regardless of the nick involved.
